21  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy! on: February 16, 2009 10:49:29 PM
This excitement is awesome.  Smiley  I wasn't planning on starting it immediately.  I've never organized a swap before so I am super nervous - but all of the stories about the Guide are so good.  (And in the movie, I have really nerdy crushes on Zaphod and Ford.)

Also, whenever I haven't talked to someone in a while, I always ask them:
How's life?  The Universe?  Everything?

22  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy! on: February 16, 2009 12:39:16 PM

A swap centered around the novels/stories about the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and how it screws with Arthur Dent, Ford Prefect, Zaphod Beeblebrox, Marvin, Trillian, dolphins, Vogons, and of course:  Life, the Universe and Everything.

The books are great inspiration and the movie gives some great visualizations, especially for the Guide itself.  You can also listen to the BBC broadcasts of the stories.  I think this would be a fun medium to large point-based swap.

Feedback?
23  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Romper Pattern? on: February 16, 2009 02:46:13 AM
I know there are several patterns out there for long button-up drawstring shirts or dresses and then all you would need is a pattern for shorts that resemble the bottom.  Look for patterns that have similarities (the details, the fit [slouchy vs tight], the fabric recommendations).  If you size up the top and bottoms from two different patterns, make sure to allow enough space for your torso cos that is a tough part.  Trim the shirt pattern to an appropriate length for what you want and trim around the patterns with a generous gap.  Then tape the front and the back pattern pieces (top to bottom) together.  The sewing instructions are going to be fun.  You will basically be doing each pattern separately (to a point) and then at the waist/drawstring, you kind of have to make it up.  If you are feeling nervous or have extra muslin or scrap fabric, I would make a test run and modify it from there.

I love the bag and the french phrase extra is fantastic.  Thank you so much.

And my ridiculous pose with the bag...

I've been crafting a lot this week...  for swaps and for Valentine's day.  I just wanted to make sure someone didn't think I'd dropped off the face of the Craftster planet.  (I've been on the computer less but I've been more actively crafting - so Yay!)

Rachel Maddow is amazing.  And so is your portrait-stitch.  Yay for smart funny women.

I feel really anxious now - everyone threw in something extra.  I guess my packing material (sample carpet threads in lovely Amore colours) can be used for something.

Cannot wait to receive and for mine to get to its destination...  This was a lot of fun and all of the things people have received so far are fantastic.  I'm ticking off the list to narrow it down !!!
28  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Update Update about the Sendout on: February 11, 2009 08:24:23 PM
Undecided  So the BF lied and it was in the back of his truck still (I guess that's what I get for not getting the job done myself) , so I sent it out on Tuesday and it will be at its destination on Friday.  (Remember, mine went south  Grin)

Sorry I haven't posted yet.  I had my boyfriend send my package out on Saturday (cos I've been sick like everyone else in the country  :/) and he didn't give me the receipt.  Thankfully, we ship through a friends packaging place, so I will call him later to find out the DC number.  Apologies.

My package went south of me by the way.  Smiley  I'm excited.

I thought I was the only person in the world whose boyfriend loved Supras.  Personally, I think they are weird-looking with awkward, displeasing angles, but according to gearheads like these boys - they are fast and amazing.  So... what I am trying to say is... awesome!  Your boyfriend had better appreciate you - and the mat Smiley
