Ah the siren call of free yarn.  That's how my stash kept getting so big.

Back from vacation, with only one new ball of yarn in my suitcase, and a bit of de-stashing done.  Giant granny square lapghans make great car-crochet.  Now to unpack the camera for a picture...

Brilliant!  The button closure is a nice touch.
I am inspired to make some to hide my books.  They look perfect for using up fat quarter scraps, and protecting books from getting smashed in my bag.

I adore these mitts from two pages back ..did you come up with the pattern yourself? They look like something I could do if somebody pointed me in the right direction.

Its a really well written pattern and very easy assuming you can count (I often fail at this, as evidenced by the fact that one mitt is slightly larger than the other...).  There's a Norwegian copy of the pattern, and English if you scroll down far enough.

LaughingLark- that scarf is amazing.  I'd be curious whether the effect can be repeated with other variegated yarn, or if it was just a happy chance.

qazicat- thanks for the site.  I shall have to check it out and see if I can make my stash work with it.

Oh so pretty!  I love the deer on the ribbon (?) of the middle one.

While I have the supplies in my stash, I am currently half a continent away from said stash (yay grad-school).  I've asked my father to mail it, so it should be here soon.  If not, well, then I'll catch up as best I can when it finally arrives.

My yarn stash has grown as well, since my housemate brought some of her mothers' back with her from the holidays and it is living in my room now.  The idea was to use it in teaching two other housemates to knit, but trying to pin them down now that the semester has started is proving difficult...

Oh well, at least we did not spend any money to acquire more yarn.
