1  My Spider Senses are Tingling! (3 pics) in Dessert by RubySugar on: January 24, 2008 03:21:54 PM
Though these are not the fantastic creations I have seen shared here before, I am still kinda chuffed up over them.

The Spawn had his 3rd birthday parties this weekend, one for preschool and one for family. (Technically his birthday was Dec 20th but I'll be damned if I was trying to have a party the weekend before Christmas during my busiest season for glass and try and get family together that weekend too!! Roll Eyes ) The theme was Spider-man, or "Pidey" as The Spawn says.

The first cake, for his classmates, was from Jello Jigglers, only got about 7-8 inches in height, I am shooting for a full 12 inches next year.

Then for the family we had chocolate on chocolate cupcakes I built a stacked form to give them height and then did a string art spiderweb with cross stitch string and watered down Elmers.

Yes, it's the same candle. LOL But at $3.50, I was using that suckah twice!

Hope you likee.

2  For The Horde! Dinner Tray in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by RubySugar on: January 09, 2008 12:52:56 PM
I had these dinner trays from a thrift store buy.  The tops have been crudy since purchase but I was gonna re-do them... that was a year ago. LOL

Finally got around to doing one of them.  I made this one as a surprise for DH. We are both big WoW players and we are a strictly Horde Household. For Durotar!! (though sometimes, when he gets in the shower, I play a gnome rogue *cackle*)

Anywho... I sanded the top and sprayed it flat black. Made a Horde template, traced it on the top with a pencil. Painted it with acrylics, made a wash using water and some gold metallic acrylic and splatter painted the symbol.  It was too neat and clean for a Horde table when it was just Red and Black. Smiley

3  Wickety Witch in Polymer Clay: Completed Projects by RubySugar on: January 06, 2008 02:23:59 PM
First post  Grin  I wanted to make sure it wasn't just a bunch of blah blah and had a pic-ie.

This is a shot of my first witch magnet in clay.  In addition to clay she has red glass bead eyes, copper wire buckle and her hair is made of fibers I pulled from some shiny fabric scraps (leavings from a Harry Potter robe for The Spawn's Halloween costume).  She was super fun to make. ( I totally welcomed the break from glass work)

I sculpted and baked the head, added the collar to her head, baked again.  Sculpted the hat and baked it and glued it to her head after adding her long flowing black locks.  Smiley

My next witch I hope will be with a body too.  Oh, and clothes of course.

Ooooooh, okay, no inserts for 10 posts...
