31  Super Meat Boy Amigurumi (FIRST TIME EVERRR) in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by Kochopia on: January 04, 2011 01:59:34 PM
There's a new game out, called Super Meat Boy. The hero and main character of the game is a cube of meat who has to save his girlfriend (who is made of bandages) from an evil fetus in a jar...

For a friend for Christmas, I made an amigurumi super meat boy using two different patterns, one for domo kun and one for a plush ninja, and a lot of creativity....

I give you, SUPER MEAT BOY!!!

This is my first amigurumi actually....I bought a cheapo 4.00 mm plastic hook and while on the last leg (literally), the hook snapped....I ended up crocheting with THIS little piece of hook

This is my first amigurumi ever so any comments are GREATLY appreciated

34  Steampunk Team Fortress Cosplay (super duper picture flabbity) in Costumes: Completed Projects by Kochopia on: July 28, 2010 07:56:10 PM
[DISCLAIMER... this is a long and rambling post and I really don't feel like proofreading it so bear with me please]

So I've been debating on whether or not I should post this up...but I might as well...

I live in Connecticut and every year there is an anime/videogame/nerd convention called Connecticon. Last year I went and was totally enthralled by the steampunk panels that were going on, and I got an idea in my head for an amazing mash up of two different things. For the past year this idea has been pooting around in my head, and unlike many other ideas that I tend to have...I ACTUALLY went through with it!!

I give you....STEAM FORTRESS 2!!!

here we have...the spy, engineer, and pyro....

Unfortunately I dont have many pictures of the boys stuff...but I made the tail coat...painted the mask, and made the briefcase the spy is carrying.

The dispenser (the big thing standing up next to the guy in the middle, is made out of a cardboard sheet with a bunch of bits and bobs glued to it. I painted the bubbling thing, and the red...the white circle is actually a push light ...but I glued green cello paper to the inside and glued a bunch of gears to that, so when it is turned on, it glows green and has a silhouette of a bunch of gears.

I sewed the apron for the Engineer, though he made the hat himself. The spy's gun is a modified airsoft revolver....very modified as you can see.

Here we have the pyro outfit (which is me). I bought a one piece mechanics suit offline, cut off one of the sleeves and sewed in a RED one and took in the legs about 293472397 inches. The collar is modified, and I tore out all of the zippers (except the one to keep it on  Smiley  ) and covered the pockets with leather taken from a purse bought at a thrift shop. There is a chain made out of pieces of a belt and purse strap...just as an added detail...

Here's a close up of the collar and chain around the neck.

The thing I'm holding is a "flame thrower"

It is made out of plumbing tubes, pvc piping, a hose nozzle, scrap leather, a water jug and a bunch of other plastic bits.

The head is actually a clorox wipes container cut into the shape, painted, and glued over a plastic solo cup spray painted dark hammered metal gray.

I also made an ax out of an ax handle, chipboard, and lots and lots of tape...

The preg_replace('/(.{19})/', '$1 ', 'ax...sheath...holster...carrying') thingy...is made out of a cardboard postertube sawed in half and spraypainted black, silver, and grey with "rust" hand painted onto it... the leather bands and strap are actual purse straps from one of the many purses I dismembered.

AND FINALLY... here is a few close up shots of the briefcase...(the intelligence) that the spy is carrying.

It was made out of a puzzle box that looked like an old suitcase...I painted the whole thing blue, embossed swirlies and a BLU symbol onto it and painted over it all with a blue and black wash of paint...then glued a few decorations onto it...a magnifying glass...and some watch parts and called it a day...

For reference to those who do not know who these characters are, here are some pictures of the real, non-steampunked versions...

35  "Crafting" for Soldiers -- many photos in Crafty Charitable/Social Causes by Kochopia on: June 20, 2010 08:49:39 PM
EDIT: I am not sure if this should go here...

My cousin was just sent over seas to Afghanistan. I can't really say too much about where he is and what he does, but I will say that it is pretty rough over there and they have no water to wash with, just to drink...

My mother and I are sending him a box of goodies. Last time he was sent overseas, we were made aware that some of the men over there never receive mail...at all. So we decided to make small boxes of goodies for a few of the soldiers that may not get packages like the rest of them.

We found these small VHS cassette tape boxes at staples and thought they'd be perfect for individualized packages for the soldiers. We made ten of these little car boxes.

These are the supplies

The boxes and a peppermint size reference

What was included in each box

Open and Closed box

Supplies for my cousin

The labels for each box

We also included toothbrushes and individual gold bond powder bottles...

I sincerely hope they like everything we sent...there were two different flavors of powdered drink packets...and they each got four hand wipes (not a lot but it shows we care).

We also sent two decks of playing cards and a Chess/Checkers/Tic-Tac-Toe set (travel sized). My cousin received two sticks of deodorant, baby wipes (they have no water to bathe), a small thing of sunblock, neosporin, and a battery powered fan.

We created these two pages to represent my sister (who loves fairies, cats, books, and fish).

Here are the two pages together, you can see the door in between the two...

This is the side to represent her "reality"

and here is her fantasy side...a fairy decorating for some festival...

Tell me what you think, my mom and I would greatly appreciate the input!!

39  EyeGlass Cases (easy peasy!) in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Kochopia on: January 20, 2010 10:10:58 PM
So I've noticed that whenever I try to look up something, the search usually only gives me swap results and I'm too lazy to advanced search and all that jazz so I looked up a nice tutorial on how to make some eyeglass cases for myself.

I made two based on this ---> [http://amazingmae.blogspot.com/2009/05/glasses-case-tutorial.html] pattern and made two today.

This was made from old pants I bought at Goodwill actually

And this one I love

Let me know what you think...

40  Supernatural...Impala....? in Stenciling: Completed Projects by Kochopia on: January 19, 2010 03:17:27 PM
Belated Christmas gift for a friend!

Supernatural brothers drive a 1967 Impala and as I was making the stencil, I realized that I would die from stress if I had to put as much detail into the stencil as there was in the picture.

So a good friend of mine and I were chatting...and I came up with the idea of putting the license plate...on..an impala!

TA DAAAAAAAA! OoOoOoh so fancy!

It's cute because only other Supernatural fans would understand it  Roll Eyes

thank you!!
