Great Stocking,    I am going to have to keep that in mind for next year, Don't know why stockings slipped my mind this year, Maybe because I wasn't even going to put up a tee in the first place  because I was not in the Christmas Mood,  My Mother Dies Last Feb. and I didnt have any Christmas Spirit but decided She wouldn't have wanted me to not have a Tree considering Christmas was always such a big deal to her so I decided to compromise and remembering seeing a few Black Decurations at Wal-Mart last year opted for a BLACK TREE   and it actually turned out beautiful and very elegant I wish I had a Picture to share,   I couldnt find many Black ornaments as you can Imagine so taking a ue from the other "collections" decided  If Martha Can do it then So can I and with a Little Glitter (Black, Silver, Crystal, ) and a Glue Gun,some pretty papers. inexpensive glass balls (18 for $2.00) (double sided tape to het the glitter to stick to the glass balls with 1/2 the mess) and a few other Odds and Ends and Before I knew it I not only had a lovely Christmas Tree but while being creative actually got some of my Christmas Spirit back  Thanks Mom      ANYWAY  Again thanks for sharing and letting me Rant,  I am new here so Nice to meet everyone   Andy

8  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: Who's thinking about next Christmas already? on: January 04, 2008 07:40:02 AM
Well I suppose if there are so many of you that are going to admit it then I can too !   Hello Group, My name is Andy and I a a Christmas Decoration making Fool LOL
I  Actually was not going to put up a Christmas tree this year but decided I should, The reason I was not in the mood was that I lost my Mother to Cancer last Feburary and just was not in the mood to celebrate especially since Christmas was always a big deal to Mom  but I got to thining that she would not have wanted that , She would have wanted a Tree But then I though if I was going to put one up it was going to be Black in keeping with me still being in Mourning , I remember seeing a few black ornaments here and there last year so I didnt think it would be that bid of a deal , but I was suprised, when I went to find them this year, some how the price had doubled and from looking around at the other decorations I knew I could get some great Ideas at K-Mart and make my own , Just adapt them to MY color scheme and besides I would be saving myself a TON of money   Do you realize how hard Black Ornaments are to find when you are looking for them
Anyway to make a Long story short with the help of some cheap glass balls Silver and Clear, some glitter, Velvet Wired Ribbon, some styrofoan balls, Sequins & Beads, straight pins, Glue,  Double sided tape, and of course cool papers to work with and anything else I couln think of to use,  and before long I actually had a what I think turned out to be one of the most beautiful trees I have ever had   and even found myself having a good time doing it, sitting here listening to Christmas Music, Watching the Flicker of the Advent Candle's Flame  and thinking about my Mother,   It may sound silly but Mom enjoyed making things like that once in a while and I think this was Her, Telling me Merry Christmas Son!   Even though had she been here she would have not been mused at a BLACK CHRISTMAS TREE  but it worked     Thanks for letting me rattle,   Besides Black is the Color for Lung Cancer which Mom had SO next year I hope to do a Pink Tree  doing pretty much the same think for those suffering from Breast Cancer and a All Red one for A.I.D.S. and auction them off for Charity (There is a annual Show here close to my town each fall I think I will look into)    I am just so Inspired       Peace and Light    Andy
9  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: tomato cages + garland = Christmas trees! on: January 04, 2008 07:09:37 AM
Hi I am Andy, I am New Here but I wanted to comment on you tomatoe cage "TREES" Those are Great , We "my Nephew's and I) made something simalier last year using 6  wire coat hangers, somehow wired in the middle at the hook art to form a triangle shame and wound garland and a small string of lights and used them to line the side walk at my Mothers home last CHristmas, I wish I could remember exactly how to make them the Boy's are the ones that tried to teach me how to make them  but they turned out very nice and considering what almost the same thing cost commercially  I think is is a Great Idea   Nothing like I MADE it my self to put you on the hiliday spirit, Maybe thats why I am still making things  Trying to hold on just a bit longer LOL    Peace and Light    Andy  Happy New Year
