Well, it has been awhile since I last posted. I was temporarily banned from posting in ANY forum by my husband thanks to something called a glitter writing virus. It is all fixed now and we have fresh virus protection so here are the rest of my Feb projects and a few March as well.

22  Matching outfits for my nieces and nephew in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by atmomma on: March 13, 2008 08:52:31 PM
I have been on a bit of a matching kick lately and my SIL mentioned that she wanted to have the kids pics taken in similar or matching outfits. I have a TON of this ocean creature material so here we go.
Using several different tutes on shirring I made two sun dresses for the girls. It was my first attempt at shirring and I think it turned out OK. One dress is modeled by my daughters dress form so it looks a bit funny fit-wise.

The funny looking things on the straps are the matching hair clippies I made.
Brady's shirt. It is a size 6-12 months so I am really hoping it will fit him this summer. He will be 6 mos in May but you know how sizing runs sometimes.

Matching clippies!

23  Three dresses made from 1 sheet in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by atmomma on: March 13, 2008 08:38:48 PM
I picked up a set of striped full size sheets at a thrift shop a few weeks ago for about $2.00. I also found two 1 yd pieces of material, one pink with polka dots and one with giraffes on it, for $1.00 a piece and I came up with these dresses. I hope you like them.
First is the dress I made for my niece Reagan. Her favorite animal is the giraffe. No action pics yet, but my SIL is sending some soon. Yay!

Next is for my niece Caity. She is very girly and loves all things pink and twirly.

Back of the dress with better lighting.

And now, dress #2 for Caity. A reversible smock-style dress.

Comments welcome and thanks for looking!!

24  Hair clippies (Maybe too many pics) in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by atmomma on: March 12, 2008 03:57:11 AM
OK, I checked out a few boards and couldn't find anywhere that would really fit hairbows aside from the jewelery and trinkets board. To me these are more clothing than jewelrery though so here ya go.  Smiley Since they are for my dd and my nieces I thought this would be a good place. I used this site for help: http://bowdesigns.50webs.com/index.html
For my niece Caitlyn.

For my nieces Reagan and Cara. Reagan is on a soccer team and the colors are orange and black.

For my dd Amelia. Pleas excuse the nasty computer chair.

A little clownish, I know, but I just love it for some reason.
Thanks for looking.  Grin

25  Re: PLEATNESS BAGS! now enriched with tutorial goodness! pg 10 in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by atmomma on: March 11, 2008 03:56:40 PM
I've made three more bags recently and wanted to share them here as opposed to creating a whole new thread.
The pink isn't this bright- more of a dark magenta. I used 3 camoflauge and 3 pink bandanas and pearl snaps for my SIL's birthday present.

This one is for a friends birthday present. I reconned an orange plaid pillowcase and used a black bandana, as well as a pearl snap.

This one is for me. I found the cowboy material in a remnants bin and the blue material is from my stash. The stitching isn't so great on this one as my machine decided to be cranky.

26  New twirly dresses in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by atmomma on: March 11, 2008 10:53:47 AM
Well, I finally worked up the courage to make two new twirly dresses for my nieces. My first twirly dress can be found here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=221445.msg2388529#msg2388529
For Reagan and Cara I had wanted to make one pink and one purple dress, but I did not have enough fabric for that so I made two pink and purple dresses. I don't quite know how that woked out but whatever. I cut strips of fabric 5.5 inches wide by however long the fabric was and then french seamed 3 of the strips together on the long sides. Then I measured 5.5 inches across and cut so that I had 3-patch strips. So much easier than sewing each individual square- which would have been 126 for each dress. The bodice is from a vintage Simplicity pattern I found at a thrift shop for 10 cents. Well, on to the pictures.  Smiley
Most true to color (please excuse un-vaccumd floor)

Both dresses together

One dress on Amelia- I can't load the picture of my nieces for some reason.  Sad

Many thanks again to Vegbee- you're great!
Thanks for looking!  Wink

29  Cloth pads in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by atmomma on: February 05, 2008 06:43:16 PM
OK, I'll admit I was one of those "Eww, that's gross" people when I first saw cloth pads. Then I started thinking about it and changed to a "Hey, that's cool" attitude. I found some flannel in a remnants bin for like 80 cents, three terry cloth dishtowels at the Dollartree, and my SIL gave me some fabric that I think is PUL- it's kinda like what you put under a crib sheet. Anyway, here is my first try at cloth pads.

I made 3 long ones and 2 short ones all out of the same material. They don't have snaps yet but I still have a few weeks till I'll need them. I can't find the links that I used for the pattens right now but I will post them when I do.

30  Mom, it's my Pidaman! in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by atmomma on: February 05, 2008 06:15:28 PM
My 2yo son adores Spiderman and when I found this fabric in the remnants bin for $1.60 I couldn't pass it up. It just happened to be the right amount for a shirt pattern I had just bought. Add gray-black buttons and red thread and we have a Pidaman shirt! Please excuse the shirt over pull-up pictures. I thook these just before bedtime.  Wink

I made this shirt a size 4T 'cause he is a little bigger- Thomas and Amelia almost weigh the same and they are two years apart- and I want this shirt to last a little longer.
I am so proud of this collar- it is only my second and the first did not turn out like I wanted it to. Sad Aside from the little area where the thread got dirty on the left it went fairly well.

I couldn't get him to turn all the way around but here is the back. Thanks for looking!
