Made for my 8-year-old daughter. She picked out this fat quarter bundle and told me she wanted zebra on the back. I had planned on using fleece but found this zebra fur for $1 less and ran with it. It is sooo super soft that I cant imagine having used the fleece now. I used a free pattern from the Moda Bake Shop called "Sugar Pop N Change" and would love to use it again.

It was so much harder to take pictures of this one than I thought it would be. There is silver on this fabric and it just really catches any light at all.

When I made my husband's Gears of War (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=398193.0) quilt, my son all but demanded that I make him a Halo quilt, so here it is. Instead of making a binding for this one, I just wrapped the fleece around to the front. Since I hand tied this one it just seemed to make more sense to me. I have no idea why, lol.

When trying to find a good Halo symbol/logo I came across this one in a few places. I'm not 100% sure it is one that is even used in the game but Thomas said that was the one he wanted because it shows the helmet. Apparently to a six-year-old, the helmet is everything, lol.

I used regular embroidery floss for the ties but am already seeing them come loose. Any suggestions for tha? I really don't want to use yarn, but I suppose if that is what is needed to make it last I'm up for it.

I made this quilt for my husband for Christmas. I should mention that I don't particularly like this game but the hubs loves it and has been known to play well into the night.

Well, I almost done!! I just have to show it off but since it isn't finished I don't want to create a new post. I used fleece for the backing. All I lack is the binding, and while I was certain I wanted red, now I'm thinking grey instead. I am so bad with decisions, lol!

I am making makeup bags for all my sisters this year for Christmas. So far I've finished three sets and only have two more to go.
For two of the sets I decided to use http://www.noodle-head.com/2010/04/gathered-clutch-tutorial.html. I simply changed the dimensions so that I could have three different sizes, then boxed the bottom corners to help them stand on their own.

This one is how I think I may "wrap" them.

At a recent family garage sale, I was digging through my MIL's box and found 11 Sonic t-shirts that had once belonged to my SIL, Megan. She worked there for a year or two, and met her husband there as well. These were good, cotton t-shirts and for the most part they were in pretty good condition. As soon as I saw them I thought of a t-shirt quilt, even though I am not a quilter. I finally finished it and now I have to sit on it for a month before giving it to them for Christmas. This is gonna be so hard!

Here is the whole thing. I was so afraid of it not being big enough that I think I may have made it too big, lol! It is close to a queen size.


Just a close up of some of the inside blocks. With only 11 shirts to work with I had to get creative, so I used the sleeves and bottom parts of the shirts to create 9 patches. I think that I literally used every single bit of material from those shirts.
To quilt it I simply ran a line of stitching along each row of black and down each column of black. I wanted to do more but, quite frankly, I got tired of quilting very quickly and it was so hard to fit all of it in the machine.


For the back, binding, and sashing, I knew I wanted to go with a simple black and white. I just happened to have the crazy wavy fabric and the solid black in my stash, ao all I had to buy was the black w/white dots. Makes for a bit of a busy back and binding, but I think that may be my favorite part.

I made this for my dad's birthday last February and just thought to post it. He has been hoarding Crown Royal bags for a very long time and asked me to make him something. He didn't care what, as long as it was made with those bags. So, after sitting on the bags for close to two years, I finally decided on a quilt. Now, my quilting skills are less than phenomenal, but I think it turned out OK.

While I have been sewing for years now, I've only just caught the quilting bug. I would really like to make a quilt for my husband that has the logo from his favorite video game, Gears of War, much like the Super Mario Bros./PacMan quilts I've seen. I have found a picture of the main logo that I want to use but am unsure as to how to pixelate it to create the quilt top. I do have PCStitch on my computer and have imported the picture there and created a cross stitch pattern for it. The problem is now size. If I've done all the math right, my individual squares would need to be 1.5"x1.5" for a quilt a little less than 9'x9', and there would be close to 5000 squares!!! I just don't think I have it in me. I would really like to use bigger squares but then I will have a ridiculously huge quilt, and all I really want is a throw for the couch.
How does a person recreate an image without going way overboard on size?
Here is the picture I plan to use. This is not my favorite game in the whole world but the man loves it.

While I haven't posted in a long time, I have been sewing up a storm. At Christmas I was reminded of a twirly skirt my aunt made me when I was a kid. Really simple skirt with an elastic waistband, it was my favorite thing to wear. I thought I would give it a try for my daughter and nieces and really love them! I used http://whatthecraft.com/circle-skirt-variations-tutorials-pixie-skirt-and-more/ to make these and plan on making tons more! I took a lot of pictures so beware! Hehe.
I decided a little last minute to make matching shirts as well and I really like how they turned out.




I only had enough black fabric to make 1 two layered skirt. I got a little lazy and made the black a rectangle instead. It does hang a little funny on her but it twirly really big.



Proof of twirly-ness! Not the best picture, I know, but the good one showed her underwear. We will HAVE to wear shorts underneath.
