1  Re: Autumn's Fall Scarf Swap GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by Kimberly_Star on: November 01, 2009 11:35:55 AM
First and foremost, I need to apologize to Magadoo for taking so long to post pictures of the wonderful package she sent me.  I also want to apologize to both Magadoo and RyverChyld since they both had to contact me to remind me to get the pictures posted.

Okay, now off to the fabulousness!!

First, is a group shot of everything that Magadoo sent me.  I have to say that she really nailed my preferences and sent me a great grouping of things!

Here is the beautiful ruffled scarf that she made me.  The colors in the scarf are beautiful and I love the way this scarf wears.  It is so cozy and warm without being bulky at all.

Here's a close-up of the scarf.

Next is the awesome beanie she sent me.  (Please excuse the "morning-after-Halloween" appearance.  Grin)  I really like the rust/yellow color combo and the open work of the hat is perfect for our not-too-cold weather.

I love these fingerless gloves.  The fit me really well and I like the fact that I don't have to take my rings off to have warm hands.  Again, the color combo is great!

Finally is the extra she sent me which is a ribbon-tied selection of gourmet hot chocolate (accompanied by the cute note she sent)!  I can't wait to dig into these!

Thanks so, so much Magadoo!  You really outdid yourself with this swap and went above and beyond the requirements!!  I really, really appreciate it and want to apologize again for being a crummy partner.  I hope the package you receive from me goes a little way towards making up for it.

2  Re: Summer Fill a Flat Rate box swap gallery! in The Swap Gallery by Kimberly_Star on: August 03, 2009 06:42:45 PM
I received a WONDERFUL box full of goodies from AbsurdAnnekuh this afternoon!.  Apparently, my box has been sitting at the PO for a while.  They put the notice in the wrong PO Box and JUST got it straightened out today.   Angry

Anywho, on to the goodies!!

First, a group shot.  Check out all the stuff she was able to fit in there!

Next up, a closeup of my favorite yarns that she sent.  The eyelash yarn is awesome! Love it!  There were several other bundles of yarn in the box.  Can't wait to find some crochet projects to use these on!

I requested some Christmas-related crafting items.  That beautiful silver wired ribbon is on a spool that says "55 Yards"!!  I just adore the little sequined Christmas bulb.

Finally, AbsurdAnnekuh sent me 50+ sheets of 12x12 scrapbook paper!  It was all wonderful, but these are my favorites of the bunch.

In addition, there was a scrapbooking border guide, some scrapbooking sticker packs, some Christmas ephemera, some fabric scraps and various other bits and bobs that will make their way into my crafting soon!

Thank you, thank you, thank you, AbsurdAnnekuh!  What a great package!!!

I received an awesome package from mellermann86 yesterday and I'm here to post pics!

First is a group shot of the frame and the photo album she sent her 24 pics in.

Next; a close-up of the frame.  The pleating of the fabric has been done so perfectly and I love the fabrics she picked!  The colors are so rich and beautiful and will look great in my kitchen!

Now on to some of the awesome pics she took!

I love this picture and it grabbed my attention right away!  The colors are so vibrant!!

I like this one for several reasons.  The first is the tall trees; we don't get trees like that in West Texas.  Second, I love how the colors are so subdued at the bottom and gradually brighten.

Finally, I love this sunset shot and how the trees are silhouetted against the sky.  Beautiful!!

Thanks, mellermann86, for such a great package.  It makes me want to hurry up and finish yours and get it in the mail!!

4  Re: Budget Meals Swap Gallery of Deliciousness! in The Swap Gallery by Kimberly_Star on: June 09, 2009 08:21:00 PM
Hi, everyone; sorry for being MIA, but I'm back and will finally be posting the pics of the AWESOME package I got from Decaf!!!  Thanks for your patience!

First is a picture of the awesome pieced coasters and trivet that she sent me.  The motif was directly inspired by an item she found on my wist!!  I love them and the color palette is perfect for my kitchen!  I was going to hang them on the wall, but Decaf convinced me to use them for their intended purpose.  Now DH even uses a coaster because he really likes these as well!!

A detail shot of my favorite.

The group shot including the extra she sent in the form of a coupon organizer that is already being used weekly!

I've already tried two of the recipes she sent me and both were GREAT, so I thought I would share them with you!

Fiesta Couscous
$0.52 per serving; Serves 8

1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon salt
3 Tablespoons olive oil
1 Tablespoon lime juice
1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
1 cup couscous
1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
1 cup corn kernels
1/4 cup onion, chopped

In a small container, blend the cumin, salt, oil, lime juice and garlic.
In a medium saucepan, bring 1 1/4 cups water to a boil.  Place the couscous in a large, heatproof bowl and cover with the boiling water.  Cover the bowl tightly and let stand until liquid is absorbed and couscous is tender, about 10 minutes.  Fluff with a fork and stir in the cilantro, corn and onion.  Pour on the lime dressing and toss to blend.

Cinnamon Bread
$0.20 per serving; Serves 12

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup white sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk
1/4 cup vegetable oil
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
4 Tablespoons brown sugar
2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
4 teaspoons butter

1.  Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).  Grease one 9x5-inch loaf pan.
2.  Measure flour, white sugar, baking powder, baking soda, 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon, salt, buttermilk, oil, eggs and vanilla into a large mixing bowl.  Pour into prepared loaf pan.  Smooth top.
3.  Combine brown sugar, 2 teaspoons cinnamon and butter, mixing until crumbly.  Sprinkle topping over smoothed batter.  Using knife, cut in a light swirling motion to give a marbled effect.
4.  Bake for about 50 minutes.  Test with toothpick.  When inserted it should come out clean.  Remove bread from pan to rack to cool.

Thanks, Decaf, for this awesome, awesome package!  I love everything so much and can't wait to try more of the recipes!!!

I've started taking pics already, mostly biographical, but I'll be taking them to suit my partner more after we get paired up.  I also got one that was not related to me at all, but I was out in a super-remote part of my county doing inspections and saw the coolest thing ever in this person's drive way.  I don't want to spoil the surprise, but for being out in the "boonies", it was EPIC.

Also, what were you inspecting?  Smiley

Smiley  I was inspecting properties for property taxation.  It gets me out of the office and on the road and I LOVE it.  Especially when I stumble on things like this:

I understand that it may not be THAT epic to some, but to find art this great in the middle of NOWHERE is amazing.  Seriously, the fact that someone in my county loves Star Wars enough to do this is impressive.  When I say boonies, I mean boonies.  The nearest shopping mall is 3+ hours away and a good number of our residents lack running water and electricity.

The guy who owns the property lets people walk through this "sculpture trail" where he has dinosaurs, battle droids, animals and etc.  DH and I are going to try to go walk through this weekend.

I really like the idea of having some pictures in an album and narrating as we go along.

Lol!  I have some "photography capris".  They happened by accident, though.  We were vacationing at North Myrtle Beach and went to Brookgreen Gardens.  I was so intent on snapping a pic of a gray fox that I fell off the trail and tore a hole in the capris.  I had to go the rest of the day looking like a bloody idiot, literally.  (I skinned my knee and cut my foot open as well.)  It would have been worth it if I had gotten the dang picture, but it didn't turn out.  On a side note, it took us 45 minutes to find someone who knew where a band-aid and rubbing alcohol were.  So, that's my story.   Cheesy

Hey-ooh, I'm going to North Myrtle very soon. Grin All my jeans are pretty much ruined anyway from being a klutz, no cool shutterbug stories.. but I am really good at looking like an idiot, getting in weird positions to get good shots.

It is a bit of a drive from the beachfront, about 35-45 minutes, but Greenbrook does offer some awesome photo opportunities:

Those are all unedited pics that were taken with my very unsophisticated/basic Kodak digital camera.  I imagine someone with some real experience and a better camera could take some amazing shots there!  I want to go back again the next time we're in the area and spend HOURS taking pictures.

7  Re: Proud to be a Christian Swap; Gallery of Goodness!! in The Swap Gallery by Kimberly_Star on: April 18, 2009 07:26:10 PM
Okay, okay, I'm finally here to post pics of the wonderful package MsMia sent me!  She decided to go with the FROG (Fully Rely On God) theme and I really love that!  It's something that I always have to work on, so it is great to have the swap items around me as a daily reminder.

First up is a group pic of everything!

Next is this adorable froggy frame.  The verse in the frame is Mark 9:23.

She also included this great embellished journal for me.  I love the flowers on the front and there are great, inspirational stickers throughout.

I love this wall plaque that has Isaiah 40:31, one of my favorite verses on it!  I love the garden theme of it and it is going to go great with the green paint in my kitchen.

She also embellished this great "Inspiration Jar" for me.  Inside are several cards with inspirational quotes on them, along with some extra paint samples for me to add my own quotes to the jar!

Finally is this adorable white board.  She sent me this so that I could write down my daily blessings.  Isn't it great?

She also sent me some neat non-crafted items; a paperweight that says "Courage is fear that has said its prayers", two votive holders and a wonderful mini-devotional book.

Thanks, MsMia!  This was a great swap and I was very fortunate to be paired with you!  I love all of my goodies and appreciate everything you put into them!!

I'm here to post the pics of all the GREAT stuff stephanieyoo sent me!  This is a really great package and she really "got" me!

First is a group shot:

Next is the awesome decoupaged recipe holder she sent.  She added some great recipes like Parmesan Tilapia and BLT with Avocado Spread that I can't wait to try!  They're already neatly divided in between color-coordinated dividers.  The paper she used is great and will look great on my kitchen counters; it pretty much matches my color scheme perfectly!

She also sent me a Food Journal that I just LOVE!  It's great because it's small enough to fit in my purse so that I can take it with me everywhere.

Here is one of the pages from the journal.  It already has spots for all of my food journaling and workout logging.  She even used some quotes from my blog for me to see as inspiration!

The last crafted item is this great fleece headband that she embroidered.  I love the color pairing of red and brown and it fits me perfectly!  I wear a headband during every workout to keep my hair from flopping in my eyes and I can't wait to give this some use!

She also threw in, as little extras, two Lucky Magazines since she knows from my questionnaire that I'm style-challenged!  I've been through both and am going to clip some of the clothing items for weight loss inspiration!

Thanks, so much, stephanieyoo!  This has been a great swap and I really hope what I've sent you measures up!

9  Re: Chocoholics Unanimous Rd 4 Gallery of Sweet Chocolatey Indulgence! in The Swap Gallery by Kimberly_Star on: February 20, 2009 07:17:01 PM
Hey everyone...I'm LOVING our swap gallery!  Everything is so wonderful!

I'm finally here to post the pics of the wonderful package that hardyswanton01 sent me!  I'm in chocolate heaven with it all!

First up are the crafty goods:

Two altered boxes.  The one on the left is her first attempt at a padded box.  Isn't that fabric cute!  It makes me hungry just looking at it!  The one on the right is a decoupaged box with some chocolate chip paper on it!  Too fab!  I'm going to use these to hide my chocolate stash at the office.

Next is a set of envelopes she made out of some really great paper!  They're perfect for mailing letters; she said they go through the regular post with no problem!  I of course love the chocolate chip paper that matches my box, but the music paper is my favorite!  I'm mailing a letter to my aunt in one tomorrow!

Finally, in all it's crafty glory; a reversible apron!  One side is the chocolate print that matches my box and the other side is a brown toile.  I told her I love French country and that' what led to the fabric selection!  I love this apron!  It ties at the neck, which isn't the norm with the aprons I've found.  I like this because I'm able to tie the apron up higher, preventing the ultra-annoying cleavage spill!

And being modeled, by me:

And now, the moment you've all been waiting for: THE CHOCOLATE!!!

She spoiled me here!  I imagine the chocolate selection at her local World Market is a little bare now!  She sent:

Dark Chocolate Cocoa Mix
Dark Chocolate Spread (can't wait to try this for breakfast tomorrow!)
A box of 12 individual servings of Artisan Dark Chocolates
A Green Earl Grey Chocolate Bar
A Chili & Lime Dark Chocolate Bar
A Sea Salt Dark Chocolate Bar (my favorite)

She also sent me some super-cute love note scrolls as an extra!  One is already hiding with a mushy message in the hubster's sock drawer!

Thanks, hardyswanton01!  This package is fabulous!  It makes it all that much worse that you don't have yours yet...now I'm off to put the finishing touches on it so I can send tomorrow morning!

10  Re: Christmas Ornament Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Kimberly_Star on: December 10, 2008 05:46:44 PM
Okay!  I'm finally here to post pics!

First off is the set of ornaments that adubyah sent to me!  There was the cutest red velvet stocking with my initial embroidered on it!  It was stuffed with some yummy Christmas chocolate that was devoured before the pic was taken.   Cheesy  Along with all of that was the cutest stuffed snowman.  Both are hanging on my bookcase at work.

I received this awesome set of ornaments from wootwoot!  She made this adorable snowman head.  He's super cute!  There's also this Christmas gnome.  I think she's going to stay out well past Christmas...she'll probably hang out on my desk from now on.

Thank you  both!!  I really love everything I received in this swap!  Too bad nothing made it to the tree!  They're all so cute that I want them at work with me so that I can show them off.

ETA: PLEASE ignore the dirty keyboard!  Nothing like a flash to display your flaws!   Cheesy
