1  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Need help on cutting fabric on: January 19, 2008 03:31:05 AM
Hello Crafters!

I am new to sewing know nothing i have only ever made 2 tissue cozies and they were not very successful lol but at least i am trying. Anyway i realised that the problem i am facing is that when i cut the fabrics i cant seem to cut them in a straight line...have no idea why.

So can someone please explain to me the procedure or provide me with a link that explains how to do it.

2  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Introduce Yourself / New to Craftster ... on: January 04, 2008 05:32:20 AM
Hello Everyone  Grin

I have been browsing for a few days and Craftster members have totally inspired me to learn how to sew. I called up my mum yesterday asking her if she could teach me how to sew as she has a sewing machine. She laughed and said "oh now you want to learn!" LOL she has been trying to teach me forever but i was never into it, until i saw what i could make.
I am so excited i am going for my first lesson tomorrow *YAY* i was just wondering what tips would you give a total beginner?

I want to order some books on basics of sewing and there are lots, and lots of books but i am not quite sure which one to pick so i was hoping some members could refer me to a couple of books that would help me.

I really wish i had found craftster long back, but now that i have found it i wont waste any time. Thank you once again!!
