3  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / Trying a new medium and need help on: May 03, 2008 04:53:43 AM
My new thing is painting.  i tried it once when I was in middle school (junior high) so I have all these acrylic paint and cheap canvas.  however, i want to get more serious about it.  SO, my question to you is do you have any websites or books I could get/look at to help with basic questions I have?

Like, for example, which kind of paint it better for a more richer color?
Which kind of paint can I pile on my canvas?
What kind of canvas do I want to start off with to practice or even when I want to start using for pieces to give away?
For oil and acrylic paints, so I have to cover it with something when I'm done to save the painting?
And brush techniques would be nice, also....oh I could go on with the questions! ha ha Cheesy

ANY advice would be much appreciated.  Thank you so much for your time and the help!  Kiss

4  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / sewing machine needle help-ASAP plz! on: February 17, 2008 07:14:32 AM
I'm trying to make a convertable dress like I've seen on the posts.  Now I have stretchy fabric and no ball point needle, can i just use a universal needle or do I really have to go out and by a pack? Tongue  Either way, you advice would be appreciated.  Thank you.

Does anyone have an idea of the pattern for a wrap dress?  I love them to death, but they are always for pregnant women...bummer.  Even if it means I have to buy the pattern, i would be in your debt.  Thanks.
