2  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Christmas: Poinsettia, Mudcake, Bunny Moon on: December 20, 2012 05:46:45 AM
Happy holidays everyone! Here's a few polymer clay miniatures I've been making for this holiday season...

Poinsettia

Definately a christmas "must" for me.

Christmas Bunny Moon

I love making these "bunny moons" with different themes.. this is a winter/xmas themed one, with presents.

Mudcake

Ah, it can't be christmas without good food. Though mudcake is perfect for any season Wink
3  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Angry Birds and other cute charms + BIG BANG on: May 16, 2012 10:54:44 AM
Hi, hi, hi! It has been awhile since I last posted on this community. Polymer clay is still a dear hobby of mine and lately I've been making more miniature SCULPTURES than "realistic miniature foods".

Most often when I create a sculpture I also a film a video tutorial or "making of" of the sculpture. Same goes for these.

Angry Birds

I come from Finland, as do these.. Rovio (the company that created Angry Birds) is a finnish based company. These are more of a "angry birds" inspired..and look..oh, not so angry.

Toothbrush & Teeth

Someone from Australia requested me to make these for her. The best ideas come from other people. I loved this challenge and I think these ended up looking veeery cute!

BIG BANG

Got to love the "kpop" craze right now. Big Bang is a korean music group.

Reindeer

I made this during christmas time (I can't believe it's almost summer here!!)

GentlemanBunny

Ah, well. Made this tonight actually. Gentlemanbunny is my other online alias aaaand so I decided to make a sculpture "of myself". Though, I'm a girl, for realz.

Wow. Do you make these is 1:6 scale? or just the 1:12?

It varies a lot depending on what I am making.

...is the texture of your finished cake as "bouncy" to the feel as it looks? Yes, very bouncy, soft but "stays in shape".

...is the clay that seems to cling to the aluminum foil when you remove the cake, gooey at all? --and if so, does that mean that the clay is not completely cured so that it could later begin eating through the clay on the outside of the cake making it sticky/etc? It's not gooey at all, it's just soft. It's not sticky.

...what temp have you been using for curing the baking powder combo? (and how long)
well, the video was my VERY FIRST TRY at it, so I baked it in about 110degrees Celsius, and 20 minutes.

...have you tried various proportions of baking soda to liquid clay to see if that changes the total amount of holey-ness or the amount of rise, or the size of the holes?
No. I've only tried this a couple of times.

...are you adding about 1 part baking powder to 2 parts liquid clay here?
I just "winged it" Smiley

...have you tried using baking soda instead of baking powder?
No. But I hear it works as well.

...is the colorant added to your liquid clay an artists' oil paint, or an acrylic paint --and if acrylic, does that add to some of the bubbles in your spongy texture?
It's acrylic paint, from a "kiddy painting kit", nothing professional. No visible bubbles.

Thank you Smiley

So cute! how do you make your macaroons so perfect? I tried to make some a while ago and I didn't like how they turned out.

Mine were box-y and weird.
I have a video tutorial for the way I make them. But I can't link to it directly, I think. In the past my videotutorials weren't approved here, because it's "advertising" Smiley
