11  UNITED STATES / Alabama / NEACA Show in Hunstville on: March 20, 2009 05:06:30 PM
So, while looking for something to do tomorrow I found the NEACA show is scheduled starting today until the 22nd. I know there's a group of Huntsvillians that meet  up; are any of you guys going to have a booth or anything?
12  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Machine Unthreading Itself? on: February 06, 2009 07:20:58 PM
So, I'm trying to sew with my machine more, but it isn't cooperating. I am fairly certain that I am threading it properly, but about half the time when I start sewing it just unthreads itself. The thread doesn't break, it just comes out of the needle. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
13  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Animal Book for My Niece on: December 29, 2008 11:39:57 PM
I started this project back in the summer but only finally finished it for Christmas, you know how things go. My niece just had her first birthday, so she was more interested in the bow that was on the box, but everyone else really liked it.

All the pages pre-assembly:

Thanks for checking it out!
14  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Adventures in Rasterbation on: July 14, 2008 07:21:39 PM
I had this really icky desk from the thrift shop and it made me sad to look at, so I fixed it up all pretty. I even kinda fixed the wobbly on it.

Excuse the mess. That was my painting room.

In its proper place.

15  COOKING / Dessert / Mountain Dew Cupcakes on: July 14, 2008 07:14:13 PM
I read this thread (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=255813.0) the other day and knew I would have to try them. It's the first time I ever made my own frosting, so I was pretty proud.

They taste a lot more like lemon than Mountain Dew, but they were really good anyway. A tip if you make them though, make only half of the frosting recipe. I had so much left over, and nothing to do with it.

17  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / First Time Organizing Question on: July 04, 2008 08:49:30 PM
I am organizing my first swap, and so far I feel like it's been going well. However,I have a question I wanted to figure out ASAP, so it doesn't turn in to a problem.

I asked everyone to post in the swap thread at least once a week. While it hasn't quite been a week since partner assignments there are a few people who haven't posted yet.
I also received a PM from one swapper asking if I could check on their partner as none of their PMs had been answered.
I took that opportunity to send PMs to not only the swapper in question, but also to everyone who hadn't posted yet. It was a nice message, just making sure they were still around.

My question is this: I still have not heard from the swapper whose partner asked me to check in. I don't want one partner to make a package and end up being flaked on. But I also don't want to count someone out of the swap if they are out of touch for a bit. What should I do?

Details: Who doesnt love a good book? And who doesnt love getting a good book without paying the ridiculous prices they are sometimes? In this swap, we will be trading used books that you think your partner will enjoy. And since it isnt a swap without some crafty goodness, we will be making some goodies to send along with the books. Swappers will be matched as best as possible by what kinds of books they want and what kind they have to give.

We will be swapping 2 used books and 3 small items. If you and your partner want to swap more books or items, that is between you, but this is the minimum.

Please make sure to post on this thread at least once a week so we know that you are still crafting along.

19  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Puzzle Bracelet on: June 12, 2008 06:48:10 PM
I usually don't make jewelry, but I saw a bracelet like this in a magazine for like $1000, so I had to make one for about $2.50. Well, it cost a little more cause I bought new paints, but I barely used any out of them.

Action shots:

(You can see an oddly creepy shot from my TV on this one.)

I'm not wild about the chain I used;it's really hard to fasten, but it was the best the Hobby Lobby had.
20  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Fair Foods on: April 26, 2008 07:11:13 PM
A few recent conversations and an "Unwrapped" showing a state fair has given me dreams of foods from fairs. Where else can you take food that is already so terrible for you, and then deep fry it?
This all led me to wonder what kinds of foods people across Craftster love from fairs or carnivals or what-not, and any recipes you might have. Share, because I must know how to deep-fry a candy bar! Cheesy
