1  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / What stitches are used to make this bracelet? on: March 18, 2011 08:17:27 PM
The middle part looks like double or triple crochet. But the bottom row looks almost like it has a wavy pattern. And maybe when they did row 2, they crochet over the whole chain in parts?

I adore this bracelet but that second row has me stumped. Not even sure that first row is a basic chain!

2  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Looking for a super simple child's cami pattern on: February 11, 2011 08:34:11 PM
Here are 2 samples of what I'd like. The first link is to a knit one. Only I'd like to do it in crochet and in child's size of course.

The second one is a crochet tube top. I can add straps myself to make it a cami. I'd just like to know what type of stitch it is.

3  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / I need this super simple fish pattern on: January 21, 2011 06:53:13 AM
I was sort of able to figure out the body based on a leaf pattern, but the tail has me stumped. I thought I could just guess at the stitches, but my tails don't look this smooth, and they are not pointed right.

I have found all sorts of fish patterns for free and on etsy, but none of them are this pattern. I want! Even if it is not free!

(side note: I uploaded these to the craftster photo hosting, but couldn't figure out how to post it once uploaded. Help? I ended up having to put them on my own site.)
4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Is there a way to know if something is sterling if it is not marked? on: July 11, 2009 10:13:07 AM
I bought some chain a while back that was sterling. Then later I bought some of that same style chain that was NOT sterling. But the two are identical. I can't go by weight because one is longer than the other and I do not want to cut it yet. Is there anything I can do to figure it out? I figured the sterling would have tarnished by now, but it is still shiny and new!
5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Discussion and Questions / Help me find these beads! on: June 13, 2008 04:41:08 PM
Hi!!

I bought these beads from some website a couple of months ago, and now I can't remember the wesbite!!

They are 12MM brushed sterling silver square beads.

If anyone knows who carries them, please let me know. I need more!

Thanks!
6  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / How does she get her resin to DOME like this?? on: May 11, 2008 08:19:04 PM

When I try something like this, it just runs off the sides. Any insight would be great!
7  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / I have a copyright question. on: April 12, 2008 02:23:23 PM
I am designing something for a customer. She is sending me her business card to scan in the graphic on the card. The business card is from an online printing company. I already feel weird about scanning the card for her item, but she didn't tell me it came from them. I just know it does.

But my delimma is this - she wants me to add a copyright symbol. So she wants me to use this graphic provided by this online company, and she will be choosing a font from a list of choices I provide. How can she copyright that??

What should I tell her? Just suck it up and do it? Or tell her no symbol?
8  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Selling Crafts on Etsy.com / Images were stolen from my website and are up for sale on ETSY! on: March 16, 2008 08:52:03 PM
OMG! I am just sputtering! But I am finding it hilarious as well!

Someone stole pictures off my website and is selling them as her own on Etsy!  She attempted to alter the images, but they are still mine!! I sell display cards, and I show the displays with jewelry on them on my website.  Her images not only show my cards, but they show MY exact jewelry!!!!!! 100% mine.  All she did was change the text and did some color adjusting so that hers are not beige like mine.

I don't know much about etsy. Is there anything I can do? I guess I could just nicely contact her. But what would I say? Other than "You thief!"  Wink

I am soooo tempted to post her etsy name here. But I guess I won't. But here are the images (with her info cut out of hers). If I am allowed, I can post a link to my website so you can see the originals. Cards I printed myself, with jewelry I made myself, then scanned for my website myself.

Item 1.

Same item, with my image superimposed over hers. The necklace matches up IDENTICALLY.

Item 2. (she unproportionaltely squished hers, so it doesn't line up 100%. But it still lines up 99%! Looks like she did something to hers to make it all jagged/pixelated.)

Same item, mine superimposed over hers.

Oh - and she even has these items on her regular website too! She's selling custom display items and obviously hasn't even made them before!
9  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Looking for specific sterling rings (Picture Added!!) on: March 15, 2008 01:58:17 PM
1. One is just a simple sterling ring with a square face on it. Not a bezel or anything, just a flat square. Or even a square that is raised a little.

2. The other has a spinning square "blank" on the ring, so that you can have two pictures (or colorful resin coatings) on the ring.

Here is an image of the spinning ring:

Please note it is NOT an adjustable ring.
10  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Help me make these rings! on: February 03, 2008 09:34:34 PM
I want to make rings!! Just simple, wide-ish flat bands. I would like to learn to make the bezel part as well, but would be happy just to make the plain ring part for now. I can always solder a pre-made bezel onto my final ring.

I know I can buy sterling sheets and cut them. Dumb question: How do you cut them? How do you make it hard after it is formed into a ring?

One esty seller mentions low-dome wire, which I know I can get from Rio Grande. If I use this stuff, once I get the ring made, how do I harden it up? It comes dead soft. So again, the question of hardening is raised.

Here are a few examples of what I am drooling over!

Plain:

With bezels

Even a thinner ring is beautiful.

THANKS!!
