1  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Cute as a Button on: July 16, 2008 05:43:23 PM
I hope this works.  I've never posted before so here it goes.

Here are 2 stencils I did.  The first one is for a button costume for my son to wear at day care.  It's made with just regular paper which I held in place and painted with acrylic (no textile medium though).  The button "holes" and "thread" are appliqud, not stenciled.

The second one is a picture of my son as a baby which I converted to black and white in Word (I don't know how to use photoshop) and printed on freezer paper (way better then holding the paper in place!).  It took a while to cut out but it was worth it! I can really tell it's him!  I used textile medium in the acrylic this time and it was a lot easier to use.  I used white paint for the white part in his eyes.

I can't wait to do some more!

I bought some in The Bay basement downtown in the food store there (Reynolds brand).  It was about $5.  I've also seen HUGE rolls at The Real Canadian WAREHOUSE store on Ellice and Route 90 (not Reynolds brand - it was brown).  They are where the waxed paper and aluminum foil is.  I haven't looked anywhere else though but I imagine Safeway would have it as well.
