1  CLOTHING / Costumes: Discussion and Questions / Re: Red Riding Hood on: January 30, 2011 06:51:51 PM
Thanks that is exactly what I was looking for!
2  CLOTHING / Costumes: Discussion and Questions / Red Riding Hood on: January 30, 2011 08:12:14 AM
So my boyfriend and I are going to go as the Hunter and Little Red Riding hood to a convention. We're going to steampunk it up.

I want to make jacket of the Little red much like this one:

Back
Front

I mean i don't want to copy it outright or anything like that. I was just wondering if anyone knew of any tutorial or patterns similar as a jumping off point.

Also i was wondering if anyone knew of a way to make a lightweight wolf head, not like a mask or anything. I wanted to be able to carry it around like a "trophy" of the dead wolf.

We're also gonna have like "wicker" pouches made out of woven place mats to sub in for the picnic basket.  So I was wondering if anyone had a holster pattern and pouch patterns that they knew of.

Thanks in advance for your help, I will probably have more questions though as I start working on it.

I did this for a school project. I did not use any patterns, all of the blue braids were hand dyed recycles sheets. The dresses total 15 yards of fabric.

What a fascinating topic! I would love to learn more about your findings/paper and how your fashion show fit into it ^_^ Your clothes are awesome and I think my favorite look out of all of them is the one furthest to the left!

Aw thank you. Originally my topic was going to be how stereotypes are projected through the way that people dress.  I changed it though after my teacher asked how I was going to prove that.

Our Products such as my fashion show just have to tie in with our subject somehow.

So at my school we have something called senior project that is required for us to graduate. We can choose any topic that we want to we just have to be able to prove something with it.

As my topic I chose fashion design, and I proved in my research paper that all lower forms of fashion are determined by the high ones, in a trickle down effect. This point was made in the movie "The Devil Wears Prada" as well.

For my product I put together a fashion show and a photo shoot. Originally my show was going to be more Steampunk but then I found that I didn't really enjoy what I was doing, as much as I love the Steampunk style. So I switched to a more Grecian theme after finding the most amazing fabric for it.

I will post the photo shoot picture when I get them back but until then here are the picture that my friend took from the audience.

I will post more pictures as soon as i get them C:

Thanks everyone.

As for the sketches they were done somewhat in haste and I plan on doing them again. They were drawn up to show the models the finalized version of their outfits when they all came over to be measured.

Also I will try to update this thread every time I finish another outfit.
