1  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 42 ENTRIES / Bicycle lunch tote! Take your Lunch on the go! on: September 05, 2009 07:23:34 AM

Here it is...my first craft challenge entry!  Whoo hoo!

This idea comes from a tute in Bust magazine (my favorite) and when I read it, knew I could get the essentials all from the D store.

I used two placemats, velcro cable ties, reg velcro and some pretty buttons they had.

2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Bowling Bag from reclaimed material! on: August 20, 2009 07:26:57 AM

My latest bag!  This one is just for me. Made from recycled materials (school girl uniform, mens flannel).

This was my first foray using super (duper) heavy interfacing, since the bag is very structured.  Wasn't as hard as I would have thought.

I'm addicted now, and can't wait to make more!
3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Prince Tote from recycled fabric! on: August 04, 2009 12:13:56 PM

Here's my latest bag creation.  It's made from reclaimed fabric from the thrift store and a super awesome, very early Prince album cover. (please note the purple and paisley, of course)

Please to enjoy.
4  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Roy Scheider Shirt on: January 23, 2009 03:04:08 PM

My first foray into the freezer paper stencil technique!  What was I waiting for?  It's way easy and really sticks to fabric.

Anyway, this is one of my heroes...Roy Scheider from one of my favorite movies All That Jazz! He passes away this year and I wanted to pay tribute!
5  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Keith Richards Reclaimed Stencil Bag on: January 14, 2009 11:31:54 AM

I got this stencil from Stencilry.com and put it on a bag I snagged for next to nothing at my local thrift store.  "Let it Bleed" is one of my favorite Stones song and thought it would look cool on a bag, too!
6  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Fabric Flower Pin with Skull Button on: January 13, 2009 08:35:46 AM

I've been wanting to make some fabric flowers with left over scraps for a while.  Here is a technique I found at Wise Craft http://blairpeter.typepad.com/weblog/2006/03/fabric_flowers.html.

The fabric is an old school girl uniform and I had the skull button, just waiting for a good home.  It also has a pin backing.  Warning...if you try this project, it highy addictive!
7  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Completed Projects / Psuedo Silk Screened Detroit Tank on: January 13, 2009 08:27:32 AM

I am a big stenciling fan, but decided to try and new method.  This is done using a product called EZScreenPrint (http://ezscreenprint.com/).  It's a bit pricey, but great if you plan on doing a lot of images, or your finger is sore from wielding your exacto knife!

The tank is an homage to one of my favorite places...Detroit.  I live in Chicago, but have a soft spot for Detroit.  Have lots of ideas for other cities, too!  Let me know what you think!
