11  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Bowling Bag from reclaimed material! on: August 21, 2009 01:53:19 PM
Wow, that's really nice! Especially for a bowling bag lol.

Thanks! I'd made it twice before, but not with the super heavy interfacing (it's a fusible, I think like a 71 or 72, that's a number that I believes identifies the strength) and they didn't turn out well at all.

I love it! Did you use a pattern? If so, which one? I'd love to try one for myself.

I did use a pattern.  It's a McCalls's #3136.  I've had it forever, don't know if it's still made.

My latest bag!  This one is just for me. Made from recycled materials (school girl uniform, mens flannel).

This was my first foray using super (duper) heavy interfacing, since the bag is very structured.  Wasn't as hard as I would have thought.

I'm addicted now, and can't wait to make more!

Is the contrast fabric stetchy?  Hard to tell.  Super cute, btw.

Why it's paisley, of course.  With the same purple leopard for the inner pocket(sorry, no picture)

Here's my latest bag creation.  It's made from reclaimed fabric from the thrift store and a super awesome, very early Prince album cover. (please note the purple and paisley, of course)

Please to enjoy.
17  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Roy Scheider Shirt on: January 23, 2009 03:04:08 PM

My first foray into the freezer paper stencil technique!  What was I waiting for?  It's way easy and really sticks to fabric.

Anyway, this is one of my heroes...Roy Scheider from one of my favorite movies All That Jazz! He passes away this year and I wanted to pay tribute!

I'm obsessed with that fabric!
19  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Keith Richards Reclaimed Stencil Bag on: January 14, 2009 11:31:54 AM

I got this stencil from Stencilry.com and put it on a bag I snagged for next to nothing at my local thrift store.  "Let it Bleed" is one of my favorite Stones song and thought it would look cool on a bag, too!

Amazing!  If you are ever able, a tutorial on how you make the skeletons would be fantastic and inspiring!
