14  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / ideas on what materials to use to make earring/necklace with hair? on: May 14, 2011 10:36:26 PM
When I first thought of this the idea sounded really good but now that I'm about to explain it, it may seem kind of creepy. Sorry if this puts you off!

My samoyed Polo went to doggie heaven on Thursday. Before we buried him, I cut a lock of his hair to keep with me. I've been thinking about somehow turning it into an earring or a necklace. The only problem is I have no clue how to do it. My idea was to dip the end in glue and wrap silver wire around it to make a loop so i can attach and earring hook or a chain.

Here is a picture to show you how much I have to work with and a bobby pin for comparison.

I don't know if I'm making much sense but I'm hoping some of you lovely jewelry experts can help me out.
Thanks Smiley
15  COOKING / Dessert / minnie mouse cake on: April 29, 2011 09:15:05 PM
*sorry for the crappy phone picture*

hey guys, just wanted to show the cake I made for my baby cousin who's turning 3 this weekend. it's basically a compilation of every minnie cake i googled haha.

it's a vanilla chocolate marble cake with vanilla buttercream and fondant. minnie's head is made out of rice krispy treats and more fondant. i made everything from scratch and from beginning to end it took me about 6 hrs but i'm so happy with the end result. you cant really tell in the picture but her name is covered with iridescent glitter Smiley

thanks for looking!
16  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Re: blood, sweat, tears, and a lot of E6000! on: March 22, 2011 03:22:07 PM
Thanks everyone! Cheesy

Sultrykitten: I know they have such boring stuff for the evo! I don't get it its such a popular phone, maybe its because its new...

Alixianervosa: I love my phone! I had a blackberry before but I have to say I love the evo. I dont know much about the plan because my parents deal with that but I think you do pay something extra. The only thing is that its super fast in 4g zones which aren't everywhere so sometimes its just average speed AND the battery life could be longer but you win some you lose some hehe . And yes I laid the bigger pieces down first Smiley
17  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / blood, sweat, tears, and a lot of E6000! on: March 22, 2011 12:52:40 AM
okay i didn't really sweat, bleed, or cry but I almost passed out from the E6000 fumes! They're not kidding when they say to do this in a well ventilated area  Tongue

I present to you guys my cell phone case that I am absolutely obsessed with!!! Watching rupaul's drag race has brought out the gaudy queen in me, if i could i would glitterfy and bejewel everything I own, but for now my case will do.

I ordered a clear case for my evo off ebay then I painted the inside part with these two glitters. I did like 3 coats and then i did one coat of the purple. Let me know if you guys are interested in the names. I did these because I wanted a "background" for the jewels and the cheap cases on ebay were either black or clear so I went with the clear.

the glitter looks very subtle in this picture but trust me it's not!

if anyone tries this, please wait at least 48 hours to put the case back on otherwise this will happen! I think it looks kinda cool but some people are weird about that stuff.

then I just used E6000 to glue all these jewels and figurines on it. I ordered them from this website: http://fullmoon07xxx.ocnk.net/
the girl that runs it has THE CUTEST things and updates all the time. I think with shipping it was $13. It is based in Japan so I don't know if she is still running it or what's going on  Undecided I emailed her yesterday to see if everything is alright so hopefully she answers soon.

thanks for looking!

ahh! i'm about to cry, this is just so sweet. For two years I took the trolley to SDHS so I saw them basically every day and it was so depressing. When I was younger I was scared and bothered by them but now that I'm older I realize that many of them don't have an option and need as much help as possible. You are such an awesome person! Thank you for helping out the people of this beautiful city Smiley

you can make oreo balls! they're so good and easy to package as gifts. THere's a post about it on here but basically you put a package of oreos and an 8oz pack of cream cheese in the food processor. chill it a little and roll it into balls and dip in chocolate. they're soooooo good! i've done it with nutter butters as well
