2  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / where to find glass eyes for felted pet/animals etc? on: May 28, 2008 12:52:03 AM
I have looked on google, did a search here, and yet nothing.  Maybe I am using the wrong words, but anyway, please can I get some suggestions on any physical stores (I live in LA, but if any chains sell them, we probably have them in LA except for hobby lobby) preferably, but online is ok too.

Thanks!
3  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Crochet in the round completely flat. Is it possible? Please help on: May 12, 2008 07:46:45 PM
I am pretty new to crochet, and have made some hats mostly.  I really want to create a hat with a flat top, and also some with a flat brim on the hat.  Yet, every time I make some thing that I would think would be flat, it gets very very wobbly.

I had thought that if I make a chain of 5-10 stitches, then attach the ends to make it a ring, then SC into each stitch twice and continue with that in each round that it would increase the stitches making it like a flat disc.  But, it just gets crazy wobbly.

Any suggestions on what I am doing wrong or another way to approach this?

Thanks,

Lincoln
4  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / My first crochet - a Hat. on: April 23, 2008 02:56:52 AM
Many... Many... Many years ago, I made a scarf via crochet.

This week I decided to make a hat.  I consider it to be my first project since the last one was sooooo long ago, and was just flat.  I just kind of winged it after getting the gist of crochet in the round (I think that is what it was called) from some vids on Youtube, and some great help getting started from Stitch Cafe here in CA.

Below are some pix of me wearing the hat.

I wanted to make a "Bowler" style hat, but the brim got super wonky.  I think it was due to me having no idea of what I was doing.  So, I undid about an hour of work, and just ended up finishing it the way it looks now.

I wore it today to the LA Craft Mafia meeting and to an earth day party, and most people seemed to like it.  The non-crafters said stuff like, "What??? You MADE that yourself???"  So, that helped take the sting out of a non-stop 6-8 hour crochet session.
