1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Self portrait, with daughter on: March 16, 2016 10:05:37 AM
Today is a happy day.

I've been working on this embroidery on and off for almost 3 years. My daughter was 6 months when this photo was taken.. shes now 3!
It's my largest and most intensive one. Having two little ones doesn't allow me to stitch nearly as often as I'd like!

The hoop is 12 inches, the majority of the stitches are only 1 or 2 mm..  it's been a labour of love! It was made using 3 different shades of pewter, and black.

And just for funsies, because I take so many photos as part of my process to see how the shading looks, I put them together in a little time lapse video.I could have edited the photos to make it smoother, but I like the realism of the chaos around me haha

2  COOKING / Dessert / My little pony cake on: March 13, 2016 09:47:55 AM
I made this cake for my niece's my little pony party!  Marsh mallow fondant, buttercream icing, and some  gel icing for the water.. those white balls are supposed to be clouds haha

I originally wanted to do a more intensive cake, with rainbows and such.. but didn't have time

Here's the inside of the cake, I tried to make it twilight sparkle's colours, because she's her favourite pony (pegasus)

3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Bob ross/ family portrait on: November 27, 2015 01:28:19 PM
Since having children, I've barely touched the needle! Here are two little cross stitches I've done this year. I have an intensive embroidery that I've put on the back burner for far too long. I'm trying to get back into it..  Wish me luck!

First, the great and wonderful Bob Ross!***

*** pattern from:    https://www.etsy.com/listing/218188948/bob-ross-cross-stitch-pdf-pattern

Then I did this little cross stitch family portrait. I made it by compiling different patterns I found online. My husband is sooo dead on!  "De" means "the" in Dutch.. I married a Dutchmen!    Ignore the fact you can see strings through the fabric.. I took it before I moved them!

4  COOKING / Dessert / Paw patrol lookout tower cake! on: November 15, 2015 07:09:39 PM
My 3 year old had a paw patrol birthday party yesterday, and I actually managed to pull off the cake in time!!!
I procrastinate and I've only made a few cakes, so I'm no pro... And I thought I was being way too ambitious... But I did it! Yay!

It's 18 inches high, made out of rice crispies, marshmallow fondant and cherry chip cake batter
5  COOKING / Dessert / Masha and the bear cake on: November 22, 2014 10:20:39 AM
I made this cake for my daughter's second birthday... It was my first time making chocolate ganache, and third time making marshmallow fondant!
Unfortunately, I didn't get any really nice photos, the sun had already started to set!
6  COOKING / Dessert / 1 up mushroom cake! marshmallow fondant! on: June 02, 2014 05:59:16 PM
A few days ago was my husband's 30th birthday, and I decided (last minute) to attempt to make him a special cake.

While he and our buddies were enjoying themselves at an aerial park (I'm 28 weeks prego, no ziplinning for me) I whipped up this baby!

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, it was my second time making/working with fondant!!

and now being gutted... I was surprised how well it held together, I thought it would basically explode!

it took a few hours to get together, but I'm so happy I did it; I had a lot of fun, and it turned out better than expected (yay!!)
7  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / cherry blossom wall hanging on: January 11, 2014 02:36:32 PM

I made this wall hanging for the baby room, right after she was born (14 months ago!)

I drew a cherry blossom branch on a pizza box, cut it out..

Cut strips from a pair of leotards, and wrapped it around the branches (I work with what I've got)

made a happy little birdie family, to represent mine (I should add another little birdie, seeing as I'm expecting 'another')

cut up a bunch of cardboard flowers, glued on fabric, then stitched the centers, using glow in the dark thread!

The only part I don't like is how camouflaged the name is, on that leopard print fabric... I planned on adding the glow in the dark thread around the letters....... but it's been a year, and it's still not done! : s

8  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Skeleton maternity shirt! on: September 25, 2012 04:57:27 PM
I saw this shirt, and fell in love! I had to make my own... so here it is!

this was my first time freezer paper stencilling.... I'm in love with it!!

I copied this girl's stencil, I should have made my own, but I was just so excited to try it out!

It's a little girl, so I'm planning on adding a cute little leopard bow on the skull!

9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Pillbox hat/hair fascinators!! on: February 18, 2012 07:31:54 PM
I love wearing things in my hair! So I try to make 'hair flair'. For the most part, I just assemble flower clips.. but fascinators and petits chapeaux are my favourites to do up.

The hat, and fascinators are made from paper mache, and then covered with fabric!

My latest baby is a mini, leopard print, pillar box hat

10  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / South Park Style Stop Motion Video on: August 11, 2011 03:35:07 PM
Slightly Mature Content

Back in early 2008, I took the bartending course at Algonquin College.
In Oenology, as a final project we had to team up, find a different alcohol, and have an oral presentation infront of the class.
I, being the funny one, came up with the idea of making a hilarious stop motion commerical for our booze. (French Kiss Liqueur)
I painstainkainly cut out a whole bunch of construction paper, and took hundreds of photos of them placed.

It took me 3 long nights to complete (I leave everything to the last minute)
I made the female characters resemble me and my two group partners (fairly accurately ; )
and the bartender was one of my classmates!

It's very, very amature, but it was the first (and only) time I made a stop motion using paper (It's difficult!)
