21  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Re: First try at canes! on: April 22, 2009 08:58:33 PM
I love the sushi cane, I knew what it was before I saw the description. Smiley

Thank you!  The whole thing was brushed with iron oxide, let dry, and then I painted on one glaze (the greenish) and a second glaze around the edges that was essentially a clear coat.  The studio actually mixes their own glazes, so I have no clue what was actually in em.

Two of my favorite pieces from my pottery class, amusing as these are the first two I made:

The brown looks like stamped leather in person.  I love it!  The texture was created by Lynn over at http://potterytexturequeen.com/rubberstamps.html

24  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects / Goblets, plates, pitchers and a unicorn tray! on: April 16, 2009 10:34:02 AM
So I just finished a hand built/slab pottery class and totally loved it!

Unicorn tray stamped with a kiddie stained glass/plastic thingy:

Double glaze dip goblet:

Creamer pitcher and spoon rest for my Momma:

Double glaze dip bowl:

Goblet and yet another pitcher:

Set of plates half dipped in green glaze and the other half in an uncolored glaze:

Goddess in The Wilderness mug:

Walnut Floating Alongside Reeds Tray and mini jug/vase thing:

Topview of the vase thing, Goddess stamped inside:

Plate with a doily smashed into it:

Some of the textures were created with a sheet stamp designed by a lady who's name I can't remember.  She goes by the moniker Polymer Clay Queen or something like that online.

25  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions / Re: What should I make with this? on: April 13, 2009 04:30:09 PM
cute!  I'd make a skirt with leggings that match (either the same fabric or pick one that matches a shade in this one).  Leggings under skirts were key in my Mom's attempts at getting me to dress like a girl.  Smiley

I second the spaghetti strap makeover, that was the first thing I pictured.  The length/poofiness could be ok with the top changed, I'd really have to see how you modify the bodice first.  I'd go easy on skirt modifications, as taking it apart at the waist could take a lot of deconstruction - I hate repinning/sewing pleats.

Love the colors and what an amazing cane!  Great work!
28  California / California: North / Re: Looking for a Fused glass workshop in April on: February 20, 2009 02:53:13 PM
Hiya,
Not sure what area of the Bay you are visiting, but here's some info for a Wine County/Sonoma County/North Bay visit.  There is a fusing and and slumping class at the Rohnert Park rec center in April.  If you call and talk to them, they can let you know if it's ok to drop in for particular sessions.  I'm taking a clay class there and it totally rocks!

29  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Dogasaur (well, catasaur) on: February 12, 2009 04:59:51 PM
I love that!  I would totally get that for my dog if she wouldn't maul me (with her gaze) for putting it on her.
