5  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Bringing monsters to life! on: February 22, 2010 12:27:56 AM
This weekend's project was turning some of my little brothers drawings into real life monsters! When I made him the offer I wasn't entirely sure what I was getting myself into here! But after completing it...I think I found my new favorite thing to do!

Here he is with the original picture. I am so thankful he stuck with simple shapes or who knows what I would have done!

He is made of super soft material I found in the baby section. It sheds like crazy and is a pain to pin because its slippery and stretchy, but once sewn its awesome to cuddle!

I kinda wanna keep him now! I have one more drawing to do, hopefully be posting that next week!

Thanks for looking!
6  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / valentine light bulb! on: February 16, 2010 05:19:48 PM
I saw this ( http://www.designspongeonline.com/2010/02/diy-project-valentine-lightbulb.html ) adorable tutorial on design sponge and just had to try it for my honey this valentine's day!

I had never hollowed out a light bulb before so I was nervous but the tutorial was great and it was very easy!

Instead of using a "light of my life", although very cute, i wanted something a bit more personal to us. So instead i wrote "where the light is" from his favorite john mayer song. he loved it! i even got some misty eyes! score!

7  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: New life for an old toolbox! on: February 09, 2010 10:23:49 AM
Great job. Smiley You must have lots of patience.  Did you hand sand or use a sanding tool?

Haha I had more boredom than patience! =p I hand sanded! =O

Thank you ladies! I am still organizing the thread in there, I would like to have it all neat and sorted! I have so much because my mom got me a sampler box with pretty much every color you would ever need from India on ebay. It has been wonderful, I never have to buy thread!
9  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / New life for an old toolbox! on: February 08, 2010 11:42:12 AM
My boyfriend's dad was going to throw away this toolbox...I couldn't let it happen! I knew I could find some use for it. I loved the old rusted look and several colors of spray paint, but it needed to be revamped if it was going to be useful to me.

Many hours of sanding later....

Several coats of primer...

And TADA!

I love soft pink! It turned out just like I wanted! And makes a perfect home for the TONS of thread I have!

I think I'm going to do the same to my boring ol' grey metal toolbox that I use for sewing! Then I'll have a matching set =D

Let me know what you think!
10  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Giant Mickey Mouse pillow! on: January 25, 2010 10:41:14 AM
I made this last week for my friend's daughter who turned 5. It was pretty easy and I fell in love with it...was kinda hard to part with hehe! Made from fleece and hand embroidered her name on the back of one ear.

p.s. apparently i have an addiction for making things into giant pillows....
