1  Bringing monsters to life! in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by lilninjabear on: February 22, 2010 12:27:56 AM
This weekend's project was turning some of my little brothers drawings into real life monsters! When I made him the offer I wasn't entirely sure what I was getting myself into here! But after completing it...I think I found my new favorite thing to do!

Here he is with the original picture. I am so thankful he stuck with simple shapes or who knows what I would have done!

He is made of super soft material I found in the baby section. It sheds like crazy and is a pain to pin because its slippery and stretchy, but once sewn its awesome to cuddle!

I kinda wanna keep him now! I have one more drawing to do, hopefully be posting that next week!

Thanks for looking!

2  valentine light bulb! in Valentine's Day by lilninjabear on: February 16, 2010 05:19:48 PM
I saw this ( http://www.designspongeonline.com/2010/02/diy-project-valentine-lightbulb.html ) adorable tutorial on design sponge and just had to try it for my honey this valentine's day!

I had never hollowed out a light bulb before so I was nervous but the tutorial was great and it was very easy!

Instead of using a "light of my life", although very cute, i wanted something a bit more personal to us. So instead i wrote "where the light is" from his favorite john mayer song. he loved it! i even got some misty eyes! score!

3  New life for an old toolbox! in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by lilninjabear on: February 08, 2010 11:42:12 AM
My boyfriend's dad was going to throw away this toolbox...I couldn't let it happen! I knew I could find some use for it. I loved the old rusted look and several colors of spray paint, but it needed to be revamped if it was going to be useful to me.

Many hours of sanding later....

Several coats of primer...

And TADA!

I love soft pink! It turned out just like I wanted! And makes a perfect home for the TONS of thread I have!

I think I'm going to do the same to my boring ol' grey metal toolbox that I use for sewing! Then I'll have a matching set =D

Let me know what you think!

5  Hearthstone pillows! in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by lilninjabear on: December 29, 2009 10:21:29 AM
I made these for my two brothers who are all about world of warcraft. I thought it was a rather fitting gift since they are both grounded and bound to home anyway =p

They were a big hit and super comfy, might make some more for myself! Hope you enjoy! =D

This is the first purse I've ever attempted making. I got the tutorial from here: http://www.themikkelsens.net/sarah/journal/2009/03/pleated-purse-pattern.html
this was really easy to follow and i'm horrible at following patterns! I was very pleased with the results and be looking to make many more of these in the future =D

8  Personalized stockings! in Winter Holidays by lilninjabear on: December 11, 2009 12:28:13 PM
Last year I made about 30 of these for all of my family and very close friends, each one in a fabric pattern that was unique to that persons style/interests. It was my first real sewing project and what got me into all this crafting stuff in the first place! I was a dummy and didn't take any pictures of them =( but I will try to recover those that are close enough hehe.

Anyways! This year I wanted to make some more for a few people who didn't get them last year. This set is for my friend from high school, her husband, and their two beloved pups. They are getting them early (this weekend) and I can't wait to show them! =)

I made up the pattern myself after much trial and error haha. I would like to know if anyone thinks it would be worth while to sell these? I love making them different coordinating fabrics, what do you guys think?? =)

9  Trendy Niner fan! in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by lilninjabear on: November 05, 2009 11:01:04 AM
So I think this is the right place to post this...

For my best friends birthday I wanted to make him something trendy to wear as a HUGE niner fan. I bought a plain white tshirt that fit him well, then added red and gold stripes onto the sleeves. Simple and totally wearable. He LOVED it =)

Thinking about doing other team combos and designs too. perhaps to sell, you think?

10  red infinity dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by lilninjabear on: November 05, 2009 10:56:58 AM
I fell in love with Rowena's tutorial for the infinity dress! http://rowena.typepad.com/rostitchery/infinity-dress.html

My mom was getting married and having a very small ceremony, I was going as a witness so I wanted something nice to wear that matched the colors she planned for her reception party. We decided to try this dress!

Love love love how it turned out. I like wearing it this way most but I've been trying other combos as well. The only challenging part was figuring out the measurements for the circle. Everything else was super easy and sewing took less than 20 minutes!

Here I am with the brothers and boyfriend at the wedding
