1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Ongoing Wish Swap Round 43 and 44 Discussion on: March 07, 2009 05:44:27 PM
Wow. Um, I didn't know there was a discussion thread till today -__-; neat-o!
Do we post our progress or questions and things on here? Or just talk?!
I've finished crafting!! And I'm paranoid that I've got tennis elbow from all the crocheting even though I'm sure it's all in my head. But I looooove it! And I hope you do too girlosun!! I'm sending it out tomorrow--- just doing some finishing touches and starting to feel swap anxiety S:

Oh, and a question. Since I'm mailing internationally do I need a tracking number? Also, since I'm in Japan and I don't speak much Japanese and they don't speak much English I don't know if I'll be able to do any thing other than the "regular" type of mail which (from experience) takes about 2 weeks to get to Canada so I assume it's the same to the States (?!) Is it all right if I just take a picture of it being taken by the post office clerk... or something...? Sorry if this is a (series of) silly question(s.) -__-;

ooohhhh I can't wait to see!  And, it will be our first package from Japan.  My children will love finding a new country on the map (and then looking up books on the computer and going to the library).  I will have to hope the package arrives on a day conducive to all of these activities (as the fabulous ideas loose steam with waiting).
2  UNITED STATES / Maine / Re: Stores in Maine?? on: February 24, 2009 04:55:13 PM
Edith and Edna in Portland, ME

You could check Paperkicks in Hallowell, ME but I am not sure that they carry clothing

Grasshopper Shops (Bangor, Ellsworth, and a couple other locations)

3  UNITED STATES / Maine / Re: Fabric Stores in Maine on: February 24, 2009 04:52:54 PM
I have to go to a variety of stores to get my needs met.  I like On Board Fabrics in Edgecomb for the variety.  They carry some imports, some nice cottons, linens, upholstry weight, etc.

Alewives in Damariscotta Mills for the cottons (and they have such a fabulous range).

A fabric store in downtown Gardiner, Maine (on Water St.) whose name is currently escaping me for wools.

Notions (buttons, thread) I end up at whippersnappers in Hallowell, Me.

I used to go to a handbag place in Randolph, ME for silks, velvets, linens etc. but they went out of business a year ago Sad

Anything else I end up at Jo Anns for as there aren't any other fabric stores near me that meet my needs.

I claim missgabbielynn for tha Last Minute Patchwork from her wist.  There are many lovely things there Smiley

This is my third claim this round, two sent, one received.

I claim FeastYourEyes for some pendants.
This is my first claim this round of three allowed, zero sent, zero received.

A pendant making kit (for the eldest, she loves making these) like this http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=15000148 or this http://www.makeandtakes.com/links/scrabble-tile-pendant-tutorial or this http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=14928442

Some fingerless mitts for me in supersoft yarn that isn't aryclic.  Blues, greens, browns, or grays would be great.

Knit legwarmers (these are for my sister).  She is on the tallish size and would like some in a non itchy yarn (preferably pink but I think anything but oranges would be fine) that would go to her knees (she is 5'11").

I sent out girlosun_9's package on Saturday. I hope this time there aren't any problems in it getting there. Last time I sent to the US it didn't. It's only the second swap parcel I've sent, so I hope you like it! No PO closures here luckily!

I'm sure I'll love it!  My children especially love looking up packages from outside of the U.S. in the atlas.  It certainly inspires them Smiley  The longest a package has taken to get here was form Australia and it took almost a month.  Canada has taken almost a month.  Otherwise, everything has come much quicker then I thought it would.

MTM, you don't have one of my pizzas?  Ack!  Now I have to claim you!

No pizzas, but we have been drooling over the ones you have made Cheesy  I wish I had the talent to make cute little felt foods that look so real!

We have a cute eggplant that  you made us--the only reason my little ones would even attempt eating eggplant!

Thanks pinkleo for posting pics.  I am actually still disgustingly sick but now well enough to do more then work/take care of my kids.  Going to bed at 6:30-7 pm remined me of being pregnant.  Not sure what I caught (I usually get bronchitis every winter but this wasn't it) but it is hanging on for ever.  I have vacation for the next week so am tackling things I wouldn't as they have been tiring me out.  I have to say, the hat is super fabulous and I wear it everywhere.  My daughters want it for theirs, several students have attempted to hijack it.  Alls good though, as it is still with me  Tongue

This hat pic is taken on my daughter who is four so it isn't overlarge on an adult size head.  Super soft and super cute.  Thanks so much!!!
9  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Ongoing Wish Swap Round 42 Gallery on: February 15, 2009 05:31:35 PM
I received (awhile ago) this beautiful hat from antarcticraft, the pictures are taken on my four year old so that hat looks large but fits me perfectly fine!  There was (as I have used it already as it was just to fabulous) also diamond glaze.  This package arrived at the perfect time and greatly perked up my week.  Thanks so much!!!

I also received felt food and two kiddie sized oven mitts from koolkoala.  All put to immediate use by my children.  Thanks!

I claim Faren for a tea towel embroidered using a pattern from her wist.

This is my second claim, zero sent, zero received.

Toddler Bonnet http://madebypetchy.blogspot.com/2008/06/free-pattern-toddler-hatbonnet.html for either my two year old (red and/or black or with Thomas fabrics) or my four year old (purple, black, pink or pretty much any color out there).  We would like the lining to be flannel or fleece or minkee as it gets a wee bit cold up here.

I never thought I would be saying this (as our middle child was toilet trained at just over a year and our oldest came to us at 4) but cloth diapers to fit a two year old (30 pounds, currently is in a size 4/5 diaper size 3t underpants/pants as he outgrew all but a couple pairs of training pants).  Our two year old just isn't interested in toilet training.
