You rule! This is great. How much time did it take overall. I've got an ugly dresser and I never thought of paper! (I mean aside from collage but that's not the look I'm thinking of going for) Genius, I say.

haha i LOVE paper! it's so great! It took me maybe 3 hours to finish it all together. including sanding, painting, letting it dry, adding some 2nd coats in certain spots, gluing, and cutting the paper to fit perfect and then again to put the sealing coat of glue on the paper!

it's so easy!

Hey, I've had that same paper at home for about three years now, at the same time I have an ugly endtable that I've been wanting to do something with, and now I stumble across your post! You've given me much inspiration, thanks so much! So, you sanded the wood down...and then did you use a special wood paint?

I picked up some wood stripping sandpaper.
and have a nice gallon of satin wall paint and I just used that. And then I'll seal the top of the table with a clear polyurethane sealer so that when you put glasses on the table the condensation doesn't leave water marks on the paint.

if you need anything let me know!

and thanks for all your comments guys! Smiley you all rule! Cheesy
5  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / ugly endtable into cherry blossom love. on: April 14, 2008 07:44:24 AM
So I had this ugly endtable that sits next to our bed. I hated it. It was ugly, the color the handles. ick.

On Friday I got out of work early and found some local paper stores and got some amazing paper and was inspired by the paper to make this into something amazing that will help get my cherry blossom themed bedroom off to a good start!

this is a picture of the drawers before. I ALWAYS forget to take a complete before photo...but you can get the basic idea of it.

and this is what it looks like now minus the handles. (i'll get a photo of it soon)
the handles I put on it just so you can envision it are plain simple black handles. nothing fancy at all.

so many people's crafts on here like this made me do this!
I seriously love it and have 2 dressers to match to this though I'm thinking of painting them white with black drawers and white blossoms. we'll see though!

anyways....i sanded the wood down
painted it black, mod podged the paper on. and sealed it again with mod podge.

thanks for looking! Cheesy

oh AND the boyfriend totally loves it
6  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / shoe box turned pretty craft junk box on: April 11, 2008 07:23:49 AM
I needed a box to hold all my random bits and pieces of crafting. My boyfriend got some new sneakers and they came in this fantastic shoebox I quickly stole for myself!
I painted it black. modge podged some tissue paper circles on and got this!

It looks like it's smudged in some spots in the pic but it's just the glue in some spots not dry yet!

It's completely full now! haha
7  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / First little notebook I've made... on: April 11, 2008 07:05:50 AM

Her birthday was in february except i've had no money to buy her anything or to be able to send a package out so this is part of her package i'm putting together.

I have a bunch of thick file folders and I cut one out to the size I wanted then covered the one side with the grass scrapbook paper and the inside with the paw print paper. cut the inside white paper to size and stapled the white paper together, made some holes and used cotton yarn to tie it together and sewed on a fun wooden button, tied some yarn for the closure and voila!

nothing fancy but it's a start and i think it's cute.
she has a little pomeranian who is her life. so grass and paw prints are appropriate.

10  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Make-A-Friend Swap (01-01 to 01-27) CLOSED!! on: March 27, 2008 02:18:50 PM
my partner lives in australia and i had NO IDEA how much it would cost to ship to australia. for a package 20lbs and under it costs $50.

I couldn't believe it! oh well, it's fun! Smiley and at least it's 20 lbs or less for that price! haha

What was it packed in? Mine lives there as well and her last package so isn't going to fit in a flat rate box!

i had a box that i got from work and packed it in there. it was only about 7 pounds i think.
