11  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Superman and Black Adam Bag on: March 27, 2008 12:55:46 PM
My bf had recieved a free bag from a job, that was very sturdy, nice color, but had had company logos on one side. Since he used this to tote his Heroclix gaming stuff around, I decided to spiff it up with a Superman freezer stencil that I believe was originally meant for pumpkin carving.

On the side with the logos I decided to represent his other fave character, Black Adam, and do his black background with the gold lightning bolt. Unfortunately it's harder to cover it with just paint than you would think. Still, it turned out alright, and was a good way to make a promo bag more fun.

12  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Token bags for Magic the Gathering and Heroclix on: March 14, 2008 01:47:58 PM
For Christmas I was trying to think of a smaller gift for the various people that I do gaming stuff with, and I came up with these bags. I just bought the plain canvas bags from Hobby Lobby and used freezer paper to cut out stencils and did designs on the front and back. I did favorite color mana symbols for the Magic players and fave chars for the Clixors, and then stuffed them all with matching color '1/2 marbles' from Hobby Lobby for the tokens, and dice. It was an inexpensive project that was fun to do and easy to personalize for each gamer! I did 10 in total and it didn't take very long at all. The longest part was cutting them. I used metallic paint because it tends to bleed less on me. It doesn't show as well here, but it's a bronze that looks very nice on the natural canvas color. This project would be even cheaper if you could make your own bags, although the ones I bought were only $1-$1.50.

Iron Man front (used with permission from a very cool stencil by http://d-pepper.deviantart.com/) and the back of Capt. Boomerang.

Back of Iron Man (we make fun of Iron Man's drunkenness to my friend ha) and front of Captain America.

Black and White mana symbols...

Back of Black and White mana symbols..my friend likes b/w so I put a grim reaper on the back of his white mana bag, and my other friend likes faerie decks, so I popped on on the back of his.

A Sliver bag for one guy (slivers are a monster type in Magic) and flame for the red mana bag (red mana symbol is fire).
