1  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Your Favorite Culinary Blogs on: January 16, 2008 11:59:13 PM
So of late I've started cooking more and more often... Perhaps my new girlfriend has been inspiring (she's incredibly intuitive in the kitchen)...  I love diving into my fridge and cupboards on my days off and just improvising delectables.  I have started watching cooking shows like mad... I'm totally addicted to Food Network (my favorites are Jamie Oliver and Giada De Laurentiis).  But even between impromptu snacks during Giada's Weekend Getaways and spontaneous recipes from my lady, I'm still left wanting more.  Which brings me to the point of this post.  I'm interested blogs.  I'd like to know what everyone's favorite culinary blogs are... they could be about shopping at farmer's markets or wine and food pairing or everyday recipes... I'm just dying to know what great food blogs lay out there waiting to inspire...

So which blogs keep you all excited about cooking?
2  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Afghan or Tunisian Crochet Hooks on: January 16, 2008 11:38:13 PM
Hello everyone,

I just started getting into Tunisian crochet... I love it!  But I only have one old tunisian hook in size H.  I feel like that's kinda limiting but I'm having the darnedest time finding them.  Where do folks find they're afghan hooks, online or in store?

Thanks for the help!

3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Saddle Blanket experience anyone? on: October 29, 2007 08:54:39 PM
Hi y'all!

My mom recently moved to Montana and got her first horse in 40 years.  I'd like to knit and felt a saddle blanket for her and her horse for christmas.  I've already got a yarn in mind, Brown Sheep Co.'s Burly Spun, but was wondering if anyone had any experience with this or has ever seen a pattern for a saddle blanket.  Any info is greatly appreciated!

4  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / What happened to CrochetMe.com on: September 23, 2007 10:00:57 PM
Please, someone tell me that CrochetMe is still alive...  It's been the same issue for months and the last I heard they were putting up the new version of the magaine in June.  Is Kim Werker ok?  Does anyone know what's up?

5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Extra Large Needles, circular, cheap? on: January 11, 2007 08:19:40 PM
Hi!

I'm looking for supersized needles, size 19+, less than $15 a pair, preferably not alluminum.  I'm in San Francisco so any shops here?  Or online?

Where can I get huge needles for cheap?

Other ideas on making them myself?

Thanks!

Jess
6  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / Yarn Subs for "Hurry Up Spring Armwarmers"? on: December 11, 2006 10:36:11 AM
I want to knit up these puppies, does anyone have suggestions for yarn substitutions, something acrylic or an acrylic blend maybe?  I'm looking to do them a little bit cheaper.  Plus I have a bunch of yarn that I just got for my birthday and I want to know if I can use any of it for this pair.

7  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Re: Glass Gun Tea Pot on: December 02, 2006 03:51:24 PM
Last semester I made a toy-gun plaster mold for slip casting and making ceramic guns.  It came out beautifully.  I even made a teapot using the mold for the spout and handle.

8  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Stash Buster Afghan on: November 12, 2006 01:28:28 PM
So this is what I'm working on, and I'm almost done.  It was supposed to be a stash buster project, but I've already ended up spending another fifty bucks on yarn for it.  All the yarns I chose though are super tactile and soft and snuggly and fairly bulky, I can't wait until it's done.  I'm almost there, just a few more squares and then I think I'll add a picot or ruffle or bobble border...  Ideas on that?

9  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Scarf Pillows on: July 15, 2005 02:20:45 PM
I'm redecorating a room with a bohemian feel and I want to cover pillows with old scarves from the thrift shops.  Any ideas how to make the scarves a little sturdier so I can sew them together and so they'll hold up to regular use?
10  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Ceramic Class Projects on: March 24, 2005 02:10:45 PM
My first completed projects are below... I'm so excited for they turned out much nicer than I could have ever expected.  I love them.  Any ideas on what to use ceramic tiles for?

PEACE

Jessy
