I made these shoes for my new baby nephew for my BIL's wedding this August.  They're really tiny, 3 1/2 inches long!  I'm making the rest of the outfit as well, but haven't gotten that far yet!

I hope he'll like em  Grin !

Thanks for looking!!
C & C appreciated!

ETA: I forgot to say they are made of a small scrap of vinyl!

12  serged burp cloths in Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies by VeggieJess on: June 29, 2009 12:50:22 PM
My MIL gave me her old serger because she said it didn't work, but I got it working after a lot of fiddling!  So I decided to make some stuff for my new nephew Frederick, and thought some burp cloths would be perfect!

I made 12 total.  Mom's an entomologist, so I thought she would like the bug ones! They were SO easy!

13  Quilt for my soon to be nephew! Yay! in Quilting: Completed Projects by VeggieJess on: June 19, 2009 11:23:50 AM
I made this quilt this week for my soon to be born nephew temporarily dubbed "Jr." He is due to be born on June 27th, only 8 days away!
I am so excited for his arrival!  I even get to see him really soon after he is born, so I wanted to make something special for him!

I learned to free motion quilt for it, too!  I have nothing but respect for those of you who can do this with even stitching!  WOW!

So anyway... on to the pics!

Sorry about the sideways pics... can't seem to get it right!

Thanks for looking!  C&C appreciated.

14  Peg Dollhouse with family (IMG heavy) in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by VeggieJess on: April 14, 2009 12:35:30 PM
This is a gift I made for one of the little girls I nanny for for her 8th birthday!  She LOVED it!  I made the people to look like her family.  She is the little red-headed one!

I took a wooden dollhouse from Michael's (50% off coupon, too! Smiley )  I painted it, and got the dolls from Michael's, too, and painted them.  Then I used wood scraps from the basement, cut and painted them to be the furniture and appliances, and used felt to embellish the sofa and beds.  I used scrapbooking paper for the floors and mod podged it down.  I coated everything in mod podge a few times, and Viola!  Also, I took a peice of scrap plywood, painted it, and attached it with velcro to the front of the house at the bottom to hold all of the stuff in it.  (I was rather impressed by this idea!)

15  vintage plane outfit in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by VeggieJess on: April 14, 2009 07:57:22 AM
I made this for some friends of mine who just had a little boy in December.
The pattern was made up by me by looking at a pair of pants from the store.   I couldn't find a cheap pant pattern that wasn't meant for knit fabrics.  I would guess them to be a size 6-9 months, but they have a cuff at the bottom, so they should fit more like 6-12 months or so, and I left it so the elastic can be adjusted if he gets chunky.

I also appliqued the onesie to match.

Thanks for looking... C&C welcome & appreciated.

I made this shirt for a young friend of mine for his birthday, it is a kids size medium.
He really loved it, and said "It goes with my theme!"  "What theme?" said I, and he said "Black."  ....oh kids... He's so goofy.

hope you like it!

17  I live in a Yellow Submarine - Beatles Themed Bedroom (Pic heavy) in CHALLENGE 36 ENTRIES by VeggieJess on: March 02, 2009 12:30:07 PM
My favorite song (and movie) of all time is Yellow Submarine by The Beatles!
I love the song so much that we devoted an entire room in our new house to it!  The room serves as our spare bedroom right now, but when we have a little one, it will be their nursery.  What a fun room for a kid, right?

Here is the quilt I made  The different fabrics symbolize the different "Seas" in the movie; Sea of Time, Sea of Science, Sea of Holes, Sea of Nothing, Sea of Monsters & Sea of Green.

Here you can see the curtains I made using IKEA fabric, and the lovely tin posters my hubby gave to me.

This is the mobile that I made out of felt.

We got this shelving unit from IKEA, and we keep our vinyl collection, movies and CDs on it.  Hubby got me the awesome tin set (top right) from an antique shop.

These are my handmade wooden Submarines that I made out of wood and my lovely Dremel tool.

Left to right you see...Tin "Help" puzzle box, Collectible figurines, tin "All You Need Is Love" tin containers with the Submarines I made, and the Sub Action figure set.

On this shelf is my vintage "Peace" Goblet, lava lamp, framed Beatles (from my sister), vintage "LOVE" embroidery, and Peter Max "LOVE" puzzle.

This little cupboard I painted and added some YS trading cards to personalize it.

I can't commit to putting anything up on my walls, I don't know what's wrong with me!  Here is a lovely poster I have, and a tin YS Poster, along with my AWESOME YS Lava Lamp!

This room took A LOT of work, we love it, and I hope you like it as well!
I appreciate comments, and of course your vote!

18  Netbook laptop sleeve in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by VeggieJess on: February 09, 2009 04:33:06 PM
I got my first laptop a couple of weeks ago (after sharing the hubby's for about 3 years!), and it is an Acer Netbook, a cute little thing.  The only problem is that it is too small to fit in a regular laptop bag!  (about 1/2 the size)  I was having a hard time finding a sleeve I liked, my choices were black or pink, and I didn't want to spend $20 on it, so I made my own.

It has 2 buttons on it, one is for when I have the power cord in the sleeve, the other is for when I don't.  There's also a pocket for keeping memory cards and things in.

19  Handmade foam stamps in Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Completed Projects by VeggieJess on: October 08, 2008 01:42:02 PM
I made these stamps this afternoon out of self stick foam and clear plastic from a CD case.  Oh, and my trusty dull Xacto.

It was super fun, and I will definitely be making more!

The book says "Ex Libris" and is for my DH (Classical Languages was one of his 3 majors), as is the skull and mushroom.   The rest are all mine!!  I LOVE owls lately... can't get enough of em!

Thanks for looking, let me know what you think!

20  Quilt for my Gram in Quilting: Completed Projects by VeggieJess on: October 07, 2008 01:11:54 PM
I made this for my Gram.  She had a stroke about 4 weeks ago, and is now in a nursing home.  We are hoping she can be rehabilitated, but I wanted to make her room a bit more cheery.  We both share a love of birds, and so this fabric was perfect!  She is a wonderful quilter, and has made me 2, so I figured I should pay back the favor.
Gram can't talk well, and we don't know what she understands, but when I gave it to her she said "Birdies!"  which made me smile.  I think she likes it...
I know it isn't a pieced quilt, but I did hand quilt around the birds and the little dots.

Thanks for looking!  Any positive thoughts for my Gram would be very appreciated.
