42  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: What to do with people selling stuff based on my free pattern? on: December 14, 2010 01:36:26 PM
i'm a writer --and this happens a lot--people quote you, copy things you wrote and post it on their blog --you're torn b/c it's nice to get noticed/read/knitted but you should get credit. i think the best you can hope for is to ask her to put a big asterisk/credit that says "pattern design and written by XX from original work by X grandmother" or whatever you want it to say. If you want blog traffic --ask for a link. if it makes you uncomfortable, don't. sometimes all the internet sharing is annoying....

45  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: how to use a row counter on: October 26, 2010 06:40:22 PM
i'm going to answer b/c no one did yet... but i'm pretty new to knitting too. i have a row counter that, yes, you have to manually click each time (eg at the end of each row) but i use it to keep track in patterns, like if it says "increase every 6th row" i click so I know when i'm at row 6, 12, 18 etc....
hope this helps

i agree with all said --but i really am amazed!!! Emily should be so proud!! In total honesty, her designs were waaay better than many "grown-ups" and the actual dress turned out terrific!!!! Lips sealed you actually drew something and then had it turn out the way you imagined --and it looks great on her! CONGRATULATIONS!!!

48  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: WIP "Wednesday" 9/29 - Show of your in progress projects here! on: October 01, 2010 12:59:55 PM
you didn't have time to post because you were in LABOR!!! CONGRATULATIONS!! on your new baby!! i'm one of those crazy moms (my babies are 21,19and16) that thinks if you can take a shower and get to the supermarket with a baby --you are doing great!!!

I finished the sweater i was working on for my daughter --b/c she's coming home from college for a short visit this weekend. It's really my first project --after a doll sweater and a few hat experiments.
I used beautiful 100% wool from my snooty LYS so it will be warm (if not fashionable)
I welcome any advice esp. a tutorial on sewing/seaming together and how to not make the bound off neck line so wonky.

thanks for looking and GOOD LUCK with the baby!

50  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / pattern translation into regular talk ----help please! on: September 09, 2010 02:56:31 PM
Hi-hoping an experienced knitter can explain what this means to do --it's the shoulder of a sweater i'm trying....

"bind off 2 sts at the beg of next RS row 4 times.
at same edge, dec 1 st every other row 4 times"

Thanks in advance!! Lips sealed
