1  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Spring time photos on: May 12, 2008 11:00:32 AM
This is a cardnal's nest in our front bush.  It is so neat being able to watch them grow!

2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Jorden's Bear on: May 12, 2008 09:09:01 AM
This is a pattern I altered from 'Animal Knits' by Zoe Mellor.  It was a dog, but I saw a polar bear, so I changed the ears and tail.  I added the scarf and painted his name b/c I was short on time.  What do you think?

3  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Macro Photo Challenge: RISK--Global Domination on: May 12, 2008 07:04:48 AM
Here is my entry... I used my Kodak EasyShare z710--only the size was altered.
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Romantic Cable and Lace Knit Vest on: March 30, 2008 03:34:31 PM
This is my second intermediate pattern and my first time knitting a lace pattern.  The pattern is  Romantic Cable and Lace Vest by http://sweaterbabe.com/product_kp25.htm It was also my first time blocking.  I think it turned out pretty great.  I used 3 skeins Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride Worsted medieval red the pattern called for 4.  I love this pattern and will make it again.  I think I will use a smoother yarn next time, this yarn is a little more fuzzy then I thought it would be.

I also plan on changing the ribbon.

before blocking, best pic of the lace.

The back was super quick!

It is my new favorite!!! Cheesy Cheesy   What do you think?
5  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Toy room murals... Dinos and Tractors! on: March 16, 2008 06:44:11 PM
My boys love dinos and tractors, so for the toy room we painted dinos and one wall and tractors on the other.

We started with an apple green wall and an orange/yellow wall.  Then I used an overhead projector to get the outlines on the wall and used acrylic paint for the dinos and tractors.

The dinos are my favorite.  I enjoyed painting them!  I really love the stegosaurus I think the blending of his paint turned out the best!

I think the T-rex is about 4 feet tall.  Who wouldn't love that smile!

The main dirt color is from a texture paint I got a Lowe's (discount!!) with sand in it.  I DON"T recommend it!  It feels cool, but I have no idea how we will ever paint over it!   The rock detail was all free hand by my husband.

I personalized the coal cars on the train for my boys and most of the details are free hand too.

I really enjoyed the whole project and learned some things too!  Don't use a magic marker to outline your drawings, because you can't paint over it, and ask your friends and family for left over paint instead of buying new!

I hope you enjoyed looking!!
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Mohawk Hat on: March 07, 2008 07:39:48 PM
I saw this book: Pretty in Punk by Alyce Benevides & Jaqueline Milles at the library and on the cover is a mohawk hat!  I just had to make one.

I knitted the biggest size, b/c I have a large head.  Next came felting and this is my second time to felt... I think I went a little overboard on the felting!!  Shocked Shocked Shocked

It now fits my Elvis Bear.  I think it will fit my 4 yo son, I'll have to wait until he wakes up.

I still love this hat and I am going to try again!!

What do you think?
7  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Shark Pillowcase on: February 09, 2008 08:56:53 AM
My son loves sharks!  When I saw this fabric on Ebay I just had to have it!

Unfortunately I didn't buy enough to make a whole pillowcase so I came up with this idea.

This is my free hand pattern

I made some teeth and an eye out of felt and then zigzag stitched all around the outside of the shark.  I think I just made a 4 year old shark fan very happy!!
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Favorite hat! on: January 24, 2008 07:00:57 PM
When I saw this hat pattern in the Creative Knitting Mag I just had to make it!  It is big enough to fit my big hair!  I made it with Red heart yarn.  It was also my first intermediate pattern!

9  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Shrug and Sweater on: January 24, 2008 06:49:58 PM
I just bought this great book, 'Positively Crochet' it has so many great patterns and they are so easy to understand!  These are my first two projects from this book

This one is called circular shrug and I made it with Red Heart yarn, dark brown.  I had to wash out the pic to see the detail.

It is my favorite!

This one is the Tie-front sweater.  It is a little big in the front but I think it is pretty good for my first sweater.  I used Caron Simply Soft.

So? what do you think?
