31  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Devil Wears Prada: 'Cerulean' on: March 10, 2008 07:37:54 PM
Does anyone remember the 'cerulean' scene from Devil Wears Prada, when Miranda lectures Andy about that oh-so-vital colour as a belt around a poufy pink dress? Well, I decided to turn that dress into a card.

The glue on the card is still drying as I type and in the picture. The heart stamp and belt buckle were my own contributions to the piece.

Coat hanger - flimsy wire
Top - pink printer paper
Belt - suede fabric
Buckle - rhinestone
Skirt - two layers of pink tissue paper, light and dark

Can't decide what to do with the actual card, but fun to have around.
32  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Sadako's Hatbox on: March 09, 2008 01:01:23 PM
I've had this lying around for several months doing nothing but looking pretty (reminds me of myself  Grin), so I decided to use it as kindling for my Craftster career.

It started off as a plain baby-blue cardboard cylinder box from Chapters, $2 (wish I'd bought more), and I gave it a little character by whipping out some origami paper from its Snoopy tin and making some cranes to go along the perimeter. The cranes are pretty small, they'd sit on your fingernail.

A few production notes for anyone who wants to try this project: it takes about 45 minutes total to do, white glue works fine. Also works with tissue boxes, jar lids, etc.

The lid's wonky because I tried to adjust it to sit on the lip of the box on one side and the photo didn't reflect that. Stupid camera/sense of artisticness.

Sorry for the major head tiltage required to view this pic. And yes, that's Hermione and some Dementors post-"stupefy" behind the box.

Brownie points (but no brownies) to whoever guesses why I named it "Sadako's Hatbox".
