I did not read all the posts on this topic - I am brand new to this site. I am a flight attendant with a major airline. and fly mostly domestic. I have always seen all types of knitting needles onboard (I do wonder why they allow them - as they are a great weapon - But who knows with the TSA!
) I take long metal ones a lot. I also use the Knifty knitter to make hats & such while I am gone. Also take the little fold up clippers to cut your yarn and thread. I also take regular needles for needlepoint. You can always take children's scissors with rounded ends. Just take them out of your bag and show the TSA before you go through the detector. Some locations are stricter than others. I got my folded scissors taken away one morning going though Las Vegas.
It also depends on the individual agent that checks the bags.
Anyway this is a neat site and I am already getting some great ideas.
