i LOVE this, I owe someone an afghan or something similar to it, so I'm going to try to make a large version of it that's not so stiff, I probably won't need the rings. I'll post when(if) I've completed!

they completed it pretty well, you should ask the author.

There are 2 easy options that come to mind for me, one is to just crochet the hat and embroider his name on after it's done OR if you know how to change colors http://crochet.about.com/library/weekly/aa041203.htm would be the second logical step in your project. Now that is the cutest dragon in the world! I tried to grab the pattern from the crochetville forum so I can make one for my boyfriend but I can't find it! I'm hoping that I can at least find something similar though!
