1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: DIY Kit Swap Round Six - October 2006 on: November 04, 2006 03:29:47 AM
Here are some onesies that I embroidered using the awesome embroidery kit I got from Plath.  They were made for a brand new baby I know.  His name starts with the letter "D", so I made sure he had some other friends whose name also started with "D".

It was my first time using iron-on stabilizer, which gave me a few problems at first, but I worked it out eventually.  Thanks again for the awesome kit!

Oh they're adorable!!!  I'm so glad you've gotten use out of your kit Smiley

I just received my sewing kit from Miss violaceous-- it's great!

She sent me really cool fabric already cut into the pieces-- love the brown with the green/turquoise-- needles, thread, a zipper, a great instruction cd that has an awesome powerpoint presentation including a beginner project--a tote and an intermediate project-- a zippered pouch, plus lots of tips that I can't wait to investigate further, a tape measure, seam ripper AND a gnome pincushion that she made!  She must have been stalking my wists and seen my love of gnomes!

Thanks so much!

I'm so glad you liked your embroidery kit hokiekate Smiley  Those are flour sack towels, which I like better than "tea towels."  I hope you feel better and are crafting again soon!

I just received a sewing kit from Tanza:

She sent some great fabric, a dressmaker pencil, 3 zippers, buttons, thread and a homemade pincushion with pins.  Thanks Tanza!  She's going to email me some instructions Smiley  I can't wait to get sewing!
5  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: I have the 1st issue of CRAFT magazine from creators of MAKE on: October 16, 2006 06:41:20 AM
The B&N by me had it on Friday, and I picked up a copy.  I've already requested a subscription for Christmas!  Some of the crafts were a little too "out there" for me, but there were still so many that inspired me.

To get out stains, I've found that warm water works MUCH better than cold.
9  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Hillary Lang's new stitchettes have been released! on: October 12, 2006 05:16:25 AM
I'm in no way affiliated, but thought some of you might be interested to know that Hillary Lang's new stitchette's embroidery patterns have been released:

I missed out on the first set (summer)-- she's not re-releasing them, and I am totally bummed about it, so I didn't want anyone to miss out on the Fall set!
