1  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / first free motion quilted pillows! on: April 03, 2009 07:17:08 PM
I just got a darning foot last week and absolutely had to try it. I started with a small block and then figured that I should try an actual project....thus, these pillows!

i'm actually pretty happy with how they turned out. The stitches aren't perfect by any means but i'm sure they'll get better with practice.

oh, i should note that i took these with my camera phone, so the quality kind of sucks...now on to the pics!

2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Re: Korean/Enchanted Forest Wedding ideas? on: February 09, 2009 03:13:20 PM
my fiance is half korean and is 6'3" so I'm totally with you on the tall koreans!

I don't know much about the irish culture but you could easily add in small korean touches to represent your fiance. You could do a small set of ducks on top of the wedding cake facing each other...I'm seriously considering that. It symbolizes life long happiness - and I figured it would also be a cute momento that we can put around the house after the wedding too. (if you're in a fight you're supposed to put the ducks tail to tail. haha!).

If you're really interested in integrating a tradition in the korean culture you could conduct a Pyebaek ceremony in addition to whatever officiating you have. For a better & more detailed description go here: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/505175/korean_wedding_ceremony_in_america.html. That's a really helpful article!

Otherwise for food you could also do a korean wedding noodle soup (the korean name escapes me right now). The long noodles are supposed to represent a long marriage. mmmm...bulgogi....now i'm getting hungry!

good luck with all the planning!

4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / we're tying the knot! engagement party invites on: October 14, 2008 06:24:28 AM
I've been engaged for a whole week and a half and my mother has already decided to plan an engagement party. naturally I took over the invitations. She was going to go and order some but I thought - no way! Why buy when you can make? soooo, here are my lovely engagement party invites!

we're not planning on getting married for about a year and a half (i'm finishing up my third year of law school and I think that perhaps I should find a job before I get married...just a thought) so I was really excited when my mom offered to throw this for us!

Happy planning everyone!!!

7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: black/white/yellow bird bag on: September 04, 2008 06:04:39 AM
i got the fabric on a whim at a small fabric store in maryland (Capital Quilts). However, I only got a fat quarter so I have no idea who actually makes it. I also am so excited about the fabric and I plan to return for more so I'll let you know who makes it!
8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / black/white/yellow bird bag on: September 03, 2008 07:32:42 PM
I have officially dubbed this style of bag as the "nana bag" as my nana was the first one to ever request such a style from me. Now that i've made a few of them, I wanted to make her a new one as a thank you for all that she's done for me (i received my quilting & sewing genes from her!). she's going to flip when she sees it!

she had mentioned a little while ago how much she loves velcro closures so i thought i'd add that in for her
& it's just big enough to hold a cell phone, keys and some money!

thanks for looking!!
