I just ordered my new sewing machines and now I need thread. I'm tired of the generic walmart stuff and want some good quality stuff, but at a somewhat decent price. Do you know where I could find some mettler thread for a good price?
I'll also be needing things like new bobbins, needles, stabilizer, etc, so if you could send some links my way I'd appreciate it!
This may sound dumb, but I've been wracking my brain for some time trying to figure out elastic pockets. I've seen tuts for them, but there's one question I've never seen answered. Does the elastic need to be the same length as the pocket top? Or do you stretch it out some and then sew it that way? If you stretch it, then how much shorter do you cut it than the pocket top?
Do my questions make sense or are they confusing?
I'd really like to start a diaper bag tomorrow with elastic pockets and would appreciate any help or tips you could give me.
If I'm posting this in the wrong spot or something feel free to move it.
Anyway, I've been brainstorming ideas for my business name and finally came across one I really, really like and is very meaningful, but I'm worried there may be some sort of legal toes I'd be stepping on by using it.
The name is Chunki Munki.
Now for the back story about it. My son is a year old and getting heavier by the hour it seems, and I used to call him Monkey Man. Well, as he grows more and more I've taken to calling him my Chunky Monkey. But, I know that Ben & Jerry's has an ice cream flavor called Chunky Monkey, so I am assuming that using that name would with that spelling would be a big legal no-no. So I changed the spelling a bit.
What I'm wondering is would it be ok to use the name with the different spelling?
And if so, I did a search and came upon a line of rugs called Chunki Munki. I don't believe it's a company, just the name of a line from a company. Would that make the name unusable as a company name?
Sorry for the lengthy questions. I'm just wanting to get started on the right foot for my business. Thanks so much for any help you'll be able to give me.
I just got a new couch so I'm needing some throw pillows. I didn't have any for my old couch. Since we just redecorated I want to keep the look modern and cool, but am having trouble finding some cool throw pillows. Does anyone know of a good tut for a unique or at least slightly different than the ordinary throw pillow? I'd really appreciate it.
Ok, I'm looking for this free software I saw not too long ago (maybe Christmas time?) that you can use to create patterns for purses and such. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Any help is much appreciated! Thanks much.
Magnetic snaps in my area are ridiculously expensive (the only place carrying them charges about $2.75 each set!) so I'm going to place an order for a bulk about (either 25 or 50) online. I'm wondering what size I should get. They'll be used in totes, diaper bags and things like that. Is 14mm about the average size? What size do you use? I figure I'll get the nickle finish ones, as I think those will look best with my items.
I've decided I want to make a diaper bag with a zippered pocket on the inside. You know how many purses and diaper bags have the zippers in the lining, where you can put things? That's what I'm looking for. Any help is appreciated! Thanks.
Where would I be able to find huge shapes or chunks of foam at? Has anyone ever made these before? It seems like once you find the foam they'd be rather simple to put together. Any ideas/suggestions? Thanks!
This is the fourth purse I've made. It didn't turn out as well as I had hoped, but I'm still pretty pleased with it. I think I need to add some sort of a clasp to it though. So what do you think? I think I'm going to give it to my mother-in-law for Christmas (since my husband is a Marine and she's obsessed with all things Marine Corp). I originally intended to make it differently, but I didn't realize the two blacks didn't match, so I had to change my plans.
