Holy wow does Lani know how to spoil a girl! Got my package today and was blown away. Thank you so much!
Everything together, including makeup bag and brush roll featuring adorable circus animal fabric, some fantastic polka dot fabric that I immediately turned around and used in a project, a fold out brush stand with mirror, ans some RING POPS!!!
And what do I find inside the brush roll?? Brushes!!
I had a friend request a custom wallet with 8 credit card slots, plus a checkbook slot. I had to figure all this out, since I had no pattern, and I'm super proud of the results! I've never made a wallet before, so this was quite the learning experience. I also lucked out and found a magnetic closure that matched perfectly!
I found a pretty dull, boring photo frame on clearance at Joann Fabrics. It was dark brown, plastic made to look like wood, pretty much just an overall sad piece of work. Now, I hate to see sad things, so I decided it needed to come home with me to be made happy! A little sanding, a little paint, and BAM!
One of the most challenging parts of selling on Etsy is the constant push for better, and brighter, and happier photos. One of the hardest parts, imho is getting consistent photos. Natural light is great, and all, but it's anything but consistent, especially here in Chicago. So, I recently set up a little photo nook in my office. I'm just using a basic white sheet for a backdrop, which was put up using a wooden dowel rod, and some curtain hooks, so that I'll be able to change/wash/diversify the photo background. Under the sheet is a desk my bf made me out of a Lack coffee table from Ikea. The desk was a bit small, so I never used it much for actual desk work, it ended up just being a dumping ground for all the random stuff in my office. Now, it has a real purpose!
I've been on quite the dyeing kick lately, and here are the latest fruits of my labor! These are all Merino Top Roving. I love the colors! The first skein was dyed with only Jacquard acid dyes, the second with food coloring, and the third with Easter egg dyes. I had strangely colored fingers for days.
So, I'm not the kind of girl who likes a big purse, or really, much of a purse at all. I wanted something that could carry the essentials, that I wouldn't have to worry about putting down somewhere and forgetting, (cause I've done that) and these are what I came up with! They are super basic, but the perfect size.
