1  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: Pretend Medicine on: August 10, 2010 04:00:47 AM
when I gave it to DD she immediately informed me of the friends who would not be playing with it "they don't respect medicine mom".

Cute. Cheesy
2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Pretty Little Hand Sanitizers (another classroom craft) on: August 09, 2010 04:44:44 PM
A long time ago I bought a bunch of tiny hand sanitizer bottles at Kroger. They are store brand, and not very attractive. I spruced up a few of them to put into my table markers/supply storage in my classroom for my students sharing supplies in the flu season(and all seasons).

The two on the left are hard to see in the picture.
Far left: Mr. Clean punching you in the face for having dirty hands.
2nd from left: cartoon of woman sreaming "PLEASE Wash Your Hands" at man walking out of the bathroom.

Thanks guys!

2kids2craft4, I used spraypaint and sharpies. They make special spraypaint for plastics. That would probably adhere best. I just used what I had in my closet, so we'll see how they hold up.

I'm sure they make great toy containers. They are great anything containers, which is why I had trouble getting my boyfriend to give them up. On one of the other semi-flat faces I intend to to write a list of the school supply contents. (Including a tiny bottle of hand sanitizer because I think communal supplies are gross, but thats how things are done at my school) It would be pretty easy to use the flat surface to list the contents of toys or crafts or what have you after it has been painted.

But I bet you could also use a rubbing alcohol bottle or a mini bottle of soda, then they could have the cap to put on and off and it wouldn't be child proof. You could just remove the lables and make your own. Makes it a little more difficult I guess. Great Idea!
Your rubbing alcohol idea makes me think of a fake first aid kit with instructions. They could practice and learn first aid procedures.

What a great idea! I imagine you could superglue the tops on if you were worried about a child learning to uncap the bottle.

I don't have any children yet, but I just imagine some friend or family visiting and having a cow when they see my child playing with a very realistic looking bottle of medicine. Of course there is no harm, but what I have learned from watching my friends with children is that other people judge you and freak out about every little thing you do with your children.
6  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Completed Projects / Re: I don't want any more menus crammed into my door!! on: August 09, 2010 10:59:29 AM
So, for all those of you who were wondering if it worked, it was working until I felt like adding a festive garage sale purchase to the whole door decoration combo. The open mouth of the alligator tempts them too much.

7  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Classroom Table Markers on: August 09, 2010 10:52:23 AM
These used to be red Folgers Aromaseal containers. Now they are cute storage bins and table markers for my 4th grade classroom. I don't have one for table one yet. I must drink more coffee.

That envelope is awesome! Your wedding seems like it is going to be so fun. I don't really have much to say, but I wanted to compliment you because I noticed no one commented at all in this thread(which is crazy because your ideas are really cool) 10-10-10 is approaching, best of luck!

This looks just like him! Great job. I randomly saw that movie on TV one day. Is it very well known movie?

I love the Afghan, but I especially love the message.
