did u have to pick up all the stitches and cast them off or something?

uhhh I took the lazy way and chopped and sewed the hell out of that baby. I'm actually really afraid it will unravel, but so far so good!

I don't really know what to call this. But I like it. I took a giant grandpa sweater and took it in and cut off most of the sleeves.. the eerie part is that the new sleeves are actual part of what used to be the hugeness of the front section. They just flopped over into sleeves on their own. It's so simple to make.. a good pick me up project for when you want somthing fast and cute.

whatever that white thing in the second pic is, it's on the mirror and not the sweater.

so what do you think?

304  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Maternity tank + XXXL t-shirt into cute ruffle skirt on: March 25, 2008 06:32:41 PM
I'm all about the ruffles lately! I made this skirt from a 3XL black t-shirt from the ac moore and a XS maternity tank top from target that was $2. I really just found a place in the tank that fit around my hips and then did some drawstring magic. This is my first attempt at buttonholes and they're awful, but you can't tell because the drawstring is so thick. Anyway here it is!

Thank you for looking! Smiley

I pretty much love this. It started as a really big long sleeved western shirt from old navy. I took it in, then cut off most of the sleeves. It came with a thin belt, so I used that to trim the shorter sleeves, which I gathered (my first time trying that.) Then I cut the bottom shorter and sewed all the scraps (and I do mean ALL) into strips and sewed them into a big ruffle on the bottom. I like wearing it with the collar down, with my peacock belt.

(photobucket is being mean to me today so I'm just gonna go with links)

Adorable! I'd never have imagined you could do anything so crafty with a desk chair.

It's really pretty! This is the sort of thing I love. Don't worry, I suck at gathering too and wonky seams are pretty much my trademark.

It's really cute! It has a wonderful vintate look and the ruffle is adorable. Great job!
