1  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / Bedazzled Oxfords on: February 03, 2013 01:12:03 PM
I broke out my Bedazzler! I added studs to my favorite Oxfords, only on the inside so they're really subtle. I'm really happy with the way they turned out.

2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Antique Stamp Necklace on: February 03, 2013 01:08:15 PM
I made this necklace out of an antique stamp I bought at a flea market. It was super easy! All you need is the stamp, an eye screw and some chain.

Super excited to wear it!
3  CLOTHING / Costumes: Discussion and Questions / Ageing a Wool Top Hat on: October 01, 2012 04:55:00 PM
I'm doing costumes for a friend's film, and there is a character who is an old magician and he wears a traditional magician's costume (tails, red vest, bowtie) and a big top hat. We got a new wool top hat and I need to age it. I'd like it to look dusty, but I'm hesitant to stain it in case it is too noticeable. I'd appreciate any advice on how to make it look old, using any method.

Thanks!

Thanks guys! I had my critique on the gown yesterday and it went really well.
6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Tim Burton-inspired ballgown on: May 02, 2011 09:41:04 PM
I made this gown for my Fibers class this semester. These photos are the documentation for the project. The ballgown is made from a vintage Gunne Sax pattern. It was the most complicated pattern I've ever used, which was actually pretty fun. I also made the hairpieces, they're mostly those weird fake plants from Michael's that I spray painted black and I hot glued clear river rocks inside the flowers and drew eyes on them. Many thanks to my roommate Deirdre for modeling. The location is Ringing Rocks Park in PA.

7  COOKING / Dessert / Star Wars Cake -- Yoda on Dagobah on: April 03, 2011 06:08:01 PM
I made this cake for my friend's birthday party. He's really into Star Wars. It's Yoda's house, pretty much based on the Dagobah map from Star Wars Battlefront II, because we are really that nerdy. I couldn't find a Yoda figurine so I bought a pez dispenser of his head and made the body out of candy and colored sugar.

And this is Pickles helping with the icing.

that is some great fabric. I would have bought it and then it would have sat around for years before I came up with anything. I like what you came up with!
9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Fused plastic grocery bag vest on: January 25, 2011 05:08:29 PM
Wow this looks amazing!

You fused it AFTER you cut out that lace pattern?! I don't know how you managed to keep the layers together so perfectly while you ironed it together.  I would love to make something like this, but since it would just be me and my exacto knife, I might go crazy first.

No I fused it and then cut it on the laser cutter. That would be insane!
