EDIT: I made another one. It came out better so I'm putting it in first. This one uses fabric from my curtains
This is my first time creating my own pattern for a bag! The fabric for this one is from a vintage table cloth. It is lined with yellow cotton. It has a front pocket and a tab and button closure that I am absolutely in love with.
This was my first project in my 3-D class last semester. We learned how to make 2-part plaster molds and how to do slip casting. I cast a Ben Franklin action figure then turned the casts into bowling pins. Then I painted each one and sewed a costume to make them into different historical figures. I made a little display with a long bowling alley as well. These made it into the Foundation Show at the end of this year!! I am very happy. The historical figures are Marie Antoinette, Pocahontas, Ivan the Terrible, Caesar, Cleopatra and Elizabeth I. Here are some pictures!
I wish I had some close ups but as these are now in storage for the show (yay!) I can't take any myself. Thoughts?
For my 3-D class last semester we made inflatables out of thick plastic and duct tape. Mine was a battle axe and two of my friends made a mace and a dagger... and we fought. Sorry there aren't great pictures of my axe.
This is the best picture I have. I couldn't really raise it up, I ended up having to stick a big dowel in it in order to hold it up.
I ended up adding pink duct tape rune-type letters and some bands around the handle to jazz it up but my teacher still hasn't postd the pictures.
Hey guys, these necklaces are the sequel to my earlier post of earrings made from gutted light meters. These necklaces are the back plates that show through the clear plastic on the front.
I love making long necklaces with decorative toggle clasps in the front. I've hung vintage charms beads and whatever else I could find from the toggles so they are decorative/functional. Sadly all of this crafting has resulted in my running out of clasps .
My dad let me have two of his old broken light meters. About an hour and several long scratches later I had them disassembled and I made these really cute earrings from the dials. I have enough dials to make two other pairs, to come soon!
I took pictures on one of my dad's vintage cameras
I took two big old sweatshirts from the thrift store and made a new hoodie with the grey one as the base. I used the purple one to make a yoke and the hood, and to line the pocket. I ran out of grey fabric for the pocket and used t-shirt fabric that was the same color. You can't even tell.
The reconstructed bit of this necklace is a key I found among my dad's old hardware that says Bella on the back. Okaaaay, it says B311A but that is close enough for me. It was a little spooky because I'm in the middle of the books now. Anyway, I sauced it up a bit with some beads and vintage ribbon! I'm rather proud of this one.
I have these great magazines from the 50s, one's a men's magazine (it's pretty much a tamer playboy) and one is a women's magazine, which is novelettes for lonely housewives. They were a godsend for my 2-D class this semester. And they have these great little ads in them with pictures that were really too small to use in my class, so I decoupaged some old picture frames! I kept to the men's magazine, for the most part.
The photos inside are my own work... a little showing off
