1  Blue #1 Painting/ Fiber Work in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by CaptainDee on: March 20, 2008 05:15:23 PM
This is a painting/drawing for my capstone (my last class to graduate).  This is the final painting... but is not finished yet. I still have text to add and finalize the edges.

The work is an exploration into the existential idea of personal identity and how we view who we are and how we distinguish ourself with what we wear.

Hope you like (hope my teacher likes...)

2  Sanibel inspired bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by CaptainDee on: March 12, 2008 09:22:29 AM
So I needed a large enough bag to hold a laptop and an 11x14 sized sketchbook.  I really liked the look of the Sanibel Bag by Amy Butler but as we all know... that bag has no existing pattern.  Based on many pictures posted here, and on Amy's site I was able to create an inspired creation.

The finished dimensions are 18x12x4.  I needed mine taller to compensate for the sketchbook, but smaller width and depth.
I used Amy Butler's Nigella Fabric for both exterior and lining.
It took almost 2 days to make (between work and classes and leaving on an airplane)

Sorry that I don't have it shown with contents I made it for... just shampoo.
What do you think... my first heavily planned bag (I normally just wing it)

3  Cresent Purse in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by CaptainDee on: January 05, 2008 04:29:05 PM
This is my first "successful" purse, in that I think it looks good and functions well (and I designed on the fly).  The exterior is wool and the interior is a polyester satin.  I recycled the hardware from an old purse.  I usually hand sew, but this was my first machine project that I didn't royally mess up in the making.  Tongue

p.s. Please don't mind the snowman sheets... they keep me warm! Grin
