I don't know! It's some sort of weave stitch. I found it in a pattern and just followed orders. I'll try to find out and get back to you!

I've had an Abe portrait on my to do list for a while now! I love the grey and the signature too! Great job!

Here are a few of many hats I've made since I've learned how to crochet.
Most have been given away as gifts, but I kept this for myself:

There are several different yarns in here, all with a strand of mohair for the fluff. There's a grey/blue, turquoise, and a glittery silver yarn too. I was going after a bonnet feel. I made this about 2 years ago.
Here's the "back":

But you can wear it this way:

OR this way:

I made this one about 3 years ago, and I'm not sure which stitch I used! I love it tho. It kinda reminds me of a Sherlock Holmes hat.

This is with the brim toward the back (and apparently, a model pose. sheesh.)

close up of that stitch I love.

This is my more recent, and one of the few I've made for a guy. This one reminds me of a drum major hat or something.

I weaved the red yarn in/out of the stitches.
Dang! It's hard to see, but the hat cups the ears.

this one shows the side view:

Thanks so much for looking!!

I missed this original post...congrats on being a featured project for Jan! I love that you got a vision and saw it through, and what a vision! It's really extraordinary!

I don't know how I missed this, but I have to tell you I LOVE this! How did you come up with this idea? The colors are great; I agree it would be neat to put in a real clock mechanism.
Congrats on becoming a January featured project! Wink

As a granny to a 5 yr old, I am all over this! Precious, and five stars in the Awwwwww factor.

And the "I love you with 3 hearts"? Stratospheric adorable!

But my favorite is the "Well, back to sewing!"
Yeah, that "love you with 3 hearts" really got me too; and I loved the Heart in a heart in a heart. So great the way you put everything together!
50  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Simplicity is the key on: February 04, 2009 08:33:35 AM
That's really cool!  I bike commute, and am always struggling to simplify my life, so that really speaks to me.  What issue of Ready Made is it from?  I might have to check that out!
I have a subscription, but I'm almost certain it's the most recent one; the one that would be on newsstands now.
