31  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Mustache trio on: March 26, 2009 08:24:38 AM
This may be the funniest thing I have seen in a while. Something about some labeled, disembodied mustachios just cracks me up!!!

Very well done, btw.
funny you think MY project is funny, cuz YOUR stuff always cracks ME up!

These are awesome. I love the way you did the lettering, and it reminds me of Malki!'s Hierarchy of Beards.
Thanks alot for the kind comments, everyone! Thrynity, that Hierarchy of Beards is too dope-I can picture that being re-created as a huge embroidery installation, every beard in an embroidery hoop and all connected somehow. Yeah, I'll get right on that. Cheesy

that is awesome!!! Knitters from 8 to 80 and above would love that; it's hip, functional, and well-executed. I love the color changing thread too-perfect for this project. I like a wide lines you used, and that it's not filled in. grrrreat!
34  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Mustache trio on: March 25, 2009 08:39:38 AM
I'm planning a graffiti installment using crocheted balls. My friend here on Craftster made me a bunch, so I wanted to do something for her. She likes mustaches, and wanted some to hang on her craft wall. This was an interesting challenge for me, as I don't think too much about mustaches, apart from hoping I never get one when I get older. I decided to go for a a trio of different styles, which I would unify with an old school barber-shop kind of theme.
Here's the trio united:

and separate-Handlebar (the pic is smaller than the others, but it's about the same size as the others)

fu manchu:

and pencil, the last one I did; I think it's funny without a face to hang it on.

So I embroidered the mustaches, cut out red vinyl in the shape of the finished piece, cut out light blue fleece in the same size, sewed the three layers, then figured out the design I wanted to frame with, cut that out, then tacked the framing pieces with yellow floss, then hot-glued it onto cardboard, and hot-glued some ribbon for hangin'.
Thanks for looking, I'd love to hear what you think!

Let me join to throng of admirers tossing their panties at this piece!  What's so awesome is that it really looks like they could be disco dancing; maybe to that disco version of Beethoven's Fifth.  Plus she could hide a lot of drugs under that skirt.  Good times.
HA HA HA! I can't believe I missed this until now; it's so smart and well done!!! I curtsy to your skillz, sir!!!!!! *rocks*
37  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Literal Dress Form on: February 20, 2009 01:25:49 PM
I work in a law office, where forms are very commonplace. When my friend/co-worker overheard me saying that "I really need a dress form", she handed this to me a few minutes later. I thought it was so funny, I just had to share!

There's even a form number on top. Cheesy
Now my search for a dress form is over! Likey?
