Grin omg that's beautiful!! i love the detail in the background and the giraffe is amazing!!!!

what materials did you use to embroider on?? and how big is the piece?

this so rocks!
Thanks alot! I started with a piece of the red vinyl, embroidered the giraffe on there, then I sewed some dark blue felt on behind the vinyl, and then cut the vinyl out. Then the cloud cut outs were light blue fleece, and the border was blue ribbon. I found a self stick board for needlework, and stuck it on there. It is 14" long and 10 1/2" wide.

thats awesome! So well done.

as a side note, there is a band called Giraffes!Giraffes? so i thought you had done some fan art or somethiong for them!
Thanks! And, about the band, that's crazy! I have never heard of them! The book came out in 2004, I wonder when the band started? I'll have to look them up.

they released their first album in 2005 i think. They are a mathcore type band and are pretty good Smiley just had a look at the book, it looks great!
I just checked them out too, and they are right up my alley! I'm surprised I've never heard of them before. I almost want to send this giraffe to them instead of Bart!

Wow these are brilliant ! Was it difficult working on the envelope paper? Could you still stretch it on a hoop?
It stretched really nicely actually! It wasn'nt too different to work on than fabric, cuz it kind of is fabric. Youshould try it sometime.

i have been looking at all your graffiti embroideries.  i like the idea very much (and the execution).  but i wanted to mention that i am pretty sure tyvek is water-proof or at least water-resistant (test on other item to make sure) and i bet you COULD get that yellow paper off by water if i am right.
You know what? That would make total sense. I'll grab a tyvek from work and test it; I'll let you know. Thanks so much for the heads up!

oh my gosh that's absolutely gorgeous! (I can't believe i'm the first to comment) I love how the corners look like clouds (not sure if you intended it, but it's a good thing Smiley) and ... gah both the giraffe and space are done very nicely Smiley I am sooo intensely jealous of Bart now.
The clouds were indeed generated to look like clouds! Thanks for the kind words. And I am jealous of Bart too, but mostly cuz his name is Bart. Which is fun to say. Bart.

I read this wonderfully whimsical and hillarious book called Giraffes?Giraffes! -Volume 1 of the Haggis-On-Whey World of Unbelievable Brilliance. It reminded me of my friend Bart, who strikes me as a kind of spacey giraffe (he's tall, and his head is closer to touching outer space than mine is). So I made this to go on his living room wall, which is blue. Tiffany blue, but don't tell him that. I used a couple different layers and pieced the whole thing together.

I obsessively hoard comments, so please don't be shy.

wow, you are really productive! You're always churning out fantastic stuff! This plate is just gorgeous; I usually don't put much stock or thought into plates, but I know a beautiful one when I see it.
