1  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: Questions About Hairstyles! on: October 15, 2008 07:56:32 PM
I've been "growing out my hair" for quiet a long time now. And everytime I get it down past my shoulders, I chop it off because I just don't have the patience. I find some funky short haircut I want, and I go for it and totally forget about growing out my hair. Then, after 6 months, I get bored, try an even shorter hair cut, which never comes out right, I end up hating it, and then I'm so upset that I let myself get it cut. And I'm about to fall into that cycle again, I'm right above my shoulders and I'm aching for a haircut. It's like an addiction.

I like to do funky, crazy stuff with my hair, and dying it definitely keeps me busy for at least a couple of months. I want to go some crazy color, but everyone keeps telling me not to, that they love my blonde hair (the only reason why it got to my natural haircolor is because I keep chopping it off.) I personally like my hair darker, I think it suits me better.

my hair looks something like this (that's the goal anyway) only a little bit shorter and with bangs:

I've done red a couple of times, blue, and I've had purple. I was thinking of going all out pink, but I think somebody might shoot me. I have pink, purple, and 2 types of blue in my room (all punky colors), but I was going to buy some manic panic in orange, yellow and red as well (going for a Hayley Williams look, possibly.)

suggestiongs?

or suggestions, whichever you prefer.

OH, I also dyed a streal of my hair with punky colours in violet about a month ago, I left it in for a couple of hours and it came out blue, not even a little bit purple. I'm not sure why. If you might, that would also be useful.

so there's my four paragraph essay about my hair which I wrote while procrastinating on the essay I'm actually supposed to be writing for school right now.
2  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Re: what do you wish people told you before you became a vegetarian/vegan on: October 08, 2008 11:33:11 PM
I wish that somebody had told me that when you tell people that you are a vegetarian, they automatically think that your condeming them because their not, or trying to "convert" them. It's not a cult, people.

I also wish that somebody had told me about the different types of vegetarianism, and that I don't have to follow any special vegetarian rules. If I eat my favorite non-veggie dish (tuna noodle cassarole, yum) once a year, or I want to try some exotic dish I've never had before with meat in it (calamari, for example), the vegetarian police aren't going to come and get me.

I wish someone had told me that veggie burgers don't have to look like real burgers to taste good. That's another important one. My mom got me these weird looking Gardenburgers and I refused to eat them for the longest time because they didn't look like real burgers, but then I tried one and they were delicious. Now I eat all sorts of veggie "burgers" that only resemble burgers because they are patty shaped.

I also wish somebody had informed me more on animal cruelty and the meat industry. I became a vegetarian just because the thought of eating a dead rotting animal makes me want to puke. I didn't realize just how far people will go to mass produce meat as fast as the possibly could until I read Slaughterhouse (which I couldn't finish because I became so obssesive over the book. Reading it made me very seriously depressed to the point where I almost broke down crying in the middle of Algebra. And I got all paranoid about pathogens in my food, even though I wasn't eating meat.) Actually, I wish someone had told me not to read that book, even though I think that everyone really should.

I wish that someone had told me how many people were going to tell me after I told them I was veg, "I would be vegetarian but I just like meat to much, I can't give it up." Most obnoxious thing ever.
3  COOKING / Dessert / Chocolate Chip Cookie Crisis on: October 08, 2008 10:13:04 PM
I've been having some sort of weird phenomenon going on in my oven right now. Might be haunted. I put 12 little balls of chocolate chip cookie dough in on a clean cookie sheet, and they come out really dry, and almost spongy (I really can't think of another way to describe it.) This is the second time I've tried to make these cookies in the last 2 months (with the same recipe I've been using for at least 5 years) and they both turned out the same. The first time I assumed I had just over/under measured some ingreadiant, but I quadruple checked all of the ingrediants before I mixed it today, and they still came out weird. I keep thinking maybe the baking soda went bad (does baking soda go bad?) or something is wrong with my oven, maybe the shortening went bad (I don't know if shortening can go bad either), I don't really know.

I could really use some help on this, I'm starting to loose my kitchen cred.  Wink
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Painting Fabric on: September 16, 2008 04:58:15 PM

So... I found these amazing pants online by Brooklyn Royalty Apparel, and I love them. I'm thinking about attempting something similar, but I was wondering what kind of paint I should use? because I've used a few different kinds of fabric paint before, and I had several problems with it. I'd figured I'd buy some paint and a couple of really cheap pants at a thrift store and try to figure out how to get the rough antique look by trial and error before I go for the real thing, but if you have any ideas on that would also be helpful  Smiley

6  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / procrastination is hell, and Stretch Magic is the devil on: December 18, 2007 09:31:49 PM
I was making bracelets over the weekend, while I was supposed to be doing homework, and I got so frustrated with the elastic I was using. I couldn't get the knots to stay, the elastic (Stretch Magic) was really slippery. So I wasted a lot of the elastic because the bracelets kept breaking, and it took me twice as long to make them. I didn't have a problem with it at first, but when I called it a night and started up the next day for some reason I couldn't get it to stay.

Anyways, pictures... I know there not fantastic, but all of my friends really liked them.

sorry for the poor picture quality

comments, tips, suggestions?

Thank you for the tute! I bought 2 pairs of "skinny jeans" at Old Navy that didn't fit very well (10 bucks each!) thinking I would fix them and I still haven't done it yet. Very helpful, thankyou.
