1  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: First Baby Clothes Quilt on: February 27, 2009 09:34:45 AM
So adorable! I am now wishing I hadn't given away most of my kids' baby clothes. But with 5 kids I just couldn't hold on to it all. Well done!

How cute is this! Did you applique some of the monkey? Your little girl is adorable. Is that a mask for sleeping she's wearing?

Yes I appliqued several monkey face squares, using felt & fleece & a few scrap fabrics, then embroidered on the face details.   Thanks for the compliments.  And yes, it's a sleep mask she's wearing.  I made it for her a few weeks ago.  It actually matches a pair of her pjs.  glad you liked them.

almost 8 yo DD loves all things monkey so her quilt had to be monkey themed.  And I couldn't resist the cute sock monkey fabrics.  It is a simple tie quilt.  Gotta hold up to lots of washing.  So here it is:

My next project was a piratey quilt.  Hope to get those pics up soon too.

Wow that's stunning.  Maybe you could do a dark top & bottom border & light borders on the side?

This is such a fun quilt! Can I steal the idea? I love it!

Of course, go for it & then post pictures.

Thanks guys!  Glad you like it.  Making the applique cupcakes was fun.  I used mostly felt & then embroidered on the details.

OK so my simple attempts at quilting, all tie quilts, are nowhere near as beautiful or intricate as lot of the ones posted here.  But my dd who is about to turn 6 this week really wanted one so I made her one as part of her Christmas gift.  Cupcakes are her signature thing.  SHe loves them, so of course that had to bethe theme.  Anyway here are a few pics of my 1st finished quilt.

Ihad a hard time getting a pic of the whole thing.  It is a bit of an oversized twin.

A few of my favorite cupcake squares:

Here are 3 of my cuties trying to hold up the quilt for another pic:

Later I will post pics of the other kids quilts I finished for CHristmas.   Still to come are quilts in Monkey Love, Cars & Mighty Machines, & Pirates themes.  Hope you enjoy!

Thanks for looking.

That is so cool!  My 3 yo son loves cars & all things car related.  I especially like the little pouch to put a few cars in & keep with the mat.  Great job!
