Beautiful! I love making quick little scarves with lover's knot (I always called it solomon's knot for some reason) but your shrug idea is so brilliant!

Ooh, hate to post again when I'm the last poster...
My progress: I got through one pattern repeat of the circular pattern before reading the instructions more carefully and discovering that oh--I'm a dumbass and I was supposed to decrease every round rather than every pattern repeat. I hate it when I glance at something and don't think about its meaning.
So I ripped out the whole thing and now I'm thinking--can anyone think of a reason why one couldn't just do the whole lace pattern in knits? I'm HATING the purl rows. Would it significantly affect the fit? Ideas?

hi synne, i've been trying to find that patons cotton, where did you buy yours?
I got mine at the Smiley's Yarns sale in Manhattan last fall, so it's quite likely it's discontinued. There should be any number of similar cotton dk weights out there though, the patons isn't anything special at all. Good luck!

In a word sweet Smiley What kind of yarn did you use? Where would I find the encyclopedia of knitting?

Thanks! I used Patons Cotton DK in Snowball White. I got my copy of The Encyclopedia of Knitting at Barnes & Noble (yay xmas gift cards...).

I just finished the first sleeve and am at this point in the pattern, and ma confused:

ok, it says "Round 60: P3Tog, p4, yo, p1, yo, p4, m1, turn"

turn what? which way?  inside out, flip it around, what? and do i stop after m1 and turn it or is that the pattern for the rest of the round?

i've never taken something from knitting in the round to knitting flat, and have no idea how. help me finish i do before it becomes i don't!

I believe that means just to turn around and knit back as if you'd just gotten to the end of a flat-knitted row, rather than continuing in the same direction. Did that make sense?

It's gorgeous! There's nothing wrong with feeling a little old-lady like once in a while!
How long did it take, may I ask? I've always been too lazy to crochet with thread...
