My friend Kristy was looking for a way to save some money this past fall... and if there's anything I love sewing its diapers! I used the Rita Rump Pocket pattern: http://handmadebyrita.blogspot.com/2007/10/classic-rrp-ritas-rump-pocket-pattern.html They turned out lovely. I used mostly reclaimed fabrics... old bedsheets actually. Kristy was in love with them and asked if I would show her how to sew them so I did just that and she made another two dozen. We're both slightly addicted!

Hey there.

It seems like I have a revolving door of pregnant friends these days. Comes with my age I guess (27)...

My bff Jenny is preggers, as is my cousin-in-law Jennie. (I know too many Jen's!). At any rate, Jennie asked me if I could make her some tops. I don't have a good picture of the one I did for her but I used the same Burda pattern for Jenny's. They're both made of light cotton.

I don't have the pattern number... but I know that its Burda and its this season.



I know it looks rather Mennonite but once its on a pregnant lady, its pretty darn cute.

I'm in love with cooking and baking and am forever getting covered in what I'm working with...
I found a crazy-old pattern in my aunt's things and altered it a bit to make a pinafore-style apron for myself. Turned out fine. I used old quilt scraps that my aunt gave me - I went through the box and used up all the pansy patterned ones... its a real mishmash of colours but I like it and it does its job. I'd like to make a nice one now that I've figured out how to make the pattern work for my size (28). I enjoy working in the kitchen all the more because I know that my clothes aren't going to be a disaster when I'm done!!

I was roaming the internet today feeling inspired to spend my Sunday sewing a handbag... I googled "free handbag pattern" and was *overwhelmed* with options and finally settled on the Buttercup bag. (http://www.made-by-rae.com/2009/02/free-buttercup-bag-sewing-pattern.html) I read a post: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=298323.0 that gave instructions on how to put a zipper in it so... I gave it a whirl. Turned out pretty good... I also added a series of pockets on the insides for my do-dads and whatchamacallits. Very handy.

Two things I'd do different - I'd sew the strap to the lining so that I didn't have a line of stitching visible on the outside of the bag (I tried to hide it in the top stitching but wasn't entirely successful... and I'd also make it out of something heavier. I used plain old cotton that I had left over from another project. I love the colours but I think it would be better out of something upholstery-eque.

Oh, and I'd also make it slightly larger. Its a tight fit for my wallet and sunglasses case.

I whipped up a few and found that I loooooved making them. So cute! I made about 2 dozen out of left over red, green and white yarn. I should have taken a pic of them all but they're now stored away til next year. I also made about a dozen others to give as small gifts. Worked out great.

I still haven't showed that friend how to make them - The Christmas season was nuts (again) and we never were able to find a time that worked for both of us. I plan to get together with her now that things have settled down.

My sister was scoping out the snorgtee.com site... she gets a kick out of some of them... and she came upon this toque: http://www.snorgtees.com/viking-helmet

She was smitten with it and dropped really broad hints that she didn't want to have to pay $35 for one... which I took to mean that she'd like me to make her one for free. Ah sisters, what are we good for? I whipped her one up that night... it isn't an exact match but its pretty close and is kinda cute. It looks a lot better on her but she wasn't here when I wanted to take pics of it... so you have me looking kinda dorky in it. Rest assured she pulls it off with more class!

This is just plain old acrylic and a 4.5mm hook.

Monkey Toques.

Golly, have I ever made a lot of these (at least 20)... and I've got orders waiting for another eight. Feels like they'll never end!
I saw a pic of one a friend had made about six months ago and once again I decided I could do that, too.

I don't have a pattern for this... just copied the picture I saw. I use acrylic yarn, I usually buy the grey and white but use whatever yarn I have hanging around for the coloured bits. Makes for a kaleidoscope of colours!

Hello folks.

I've been away from here for a while but I haven't stopped crafting!

I made this tam at Christmas time... I decided that I was tired of toques so gave this a whirl. I used a lightweight grey acrylic yarn and a 3mm hook. I made a little casing just behind the brim for some elastic and voila! A tam.

The inspiration for it came after seeing a friend's tam that she picked up for $30. She was thrilled she got such a good deal and all I could think was "I could make it for nothing!" So... I did. And thus, the grey tam was born.

I didn't use a pattern... just had the image of my friend's tam in my mind. Worked out pretty ok.

Have been away from the craftster boards for a while - feels good to be back!

This bunny has been a work in progress for a couple months. Its a first birthday present for my bff's daughter.

When I was about two or three my Great-Grandma made me the bunny on the left. Its acrylic, just scraps... the backs of the legs are pink and the fronts are yellow. She didn't think she was making something so special when she made it, I can guarantee you that! Bugs (my bunny) has been in storage for years but I was cleaning out my parent's attic a few months ago and came across him. I decided I would try to replicate him and came up with his female counterpart who has yet to be named.

She's 100% wool yarn stuff with 100% clean carded wool as batting. I didn't do it intentionally but she has a very womanly shape to her - hips and thighs. Its kinda cute. The only thing I might change is her whiskers... it kind of looks like a mustache more than whiskers right now!

I think she turned out pretty good considering I didn't have a pattern - I just sat there and counted the stitches on my bunny!

Hello everyone!

I've been away from the site for a while - have been setting up my new computer and forgot to bookmark this site! Shame on me! teehee.

I was just goofin' off with some wire and beads this afternoon and made myself a new medic alert bracelet band.





I like it better than my last one but the downside to this design is that you can't easily flip it over and read my medical information! Whoops. You could, but you'd have to force it. But generally, I'm unconscious when it comes to people reading my bracelet (seizures) so they can go right ahead and force it - I don't mind. haha.

Its made of 20 gauge wire which is much heavier than I normally use but it was easy enough to work with. The beads are carnelians... love 'em! They were a gift.

Should go check on the cake in the oven! Thanks for lookin'.
