I've recently gotten into high waist skirts- I've posted them a bunch on my blog. I've just taken existing skirts, hacking them off and putting elastic around the top. I'm sure there is a tutorial someone wrote somewhere. I like doing this because you can sometimes get two skirts or 1 skirt and 1 slip out of 1 item. So here are some of my favorites.

Hi!

This is my first post on the jewelry boards- usually I stick to the reconned clothes board. I just wanted to show off this necklace I did- I made it for my second ever steampunk event to go with my outfit. You can see the full outfit at my blog: http://sewingpixie.blogspot.com



It's one of my favorite things I'd ever made, so I'm really proud of it. ^_^

Lol- another boring recon from me! This was a 2X that I took in on the sides, put the sleeves back in, and then I added another neckline because I hate crew neck shirts.



I found a ton of these type of animal tees at the local Salv Arm for like, two bucks each and I decided that (like Pokemon) I had to have them all. I'm trying to get more adventurous- I think next will be a scarf out of a yellow wolf tee. H&M had one and I never got to buy it before it sold out.

It's been a long time since I've posted on here!

I haven't been up to much that is super exciting, but I've discovered a lot of applique and have been using that to just give minor face-lifts to my old clothing.



Thanks to the lovely headless Lola for modeling. The dress was thrifted from a rummage sale and I appliqued on little patches by the neck.

I also stenciled the little zombie girl, which is an original sketch of mine. ^_^ So like I said, nothing too exciting but something cute. I wear these to work all the time because they are so comfy.

I'm really in love with peasant style shirts because they have a nice scoop neck and they are flowy, which makes me feel good because I hate tight things. Because of my hate for tight things, I have a ton of L and XL tees just hanging around my apartment. When I saw a peasant blouse-type tee on Old Navy, I knew I had to figure out how to make one. I'm posting the tutorial, even though I might try and sell some in this style on my etsy, because once I made them I couldn't STOP making them. I LOVE this tute and I hope you guys like it too- it's kind of an instant gratification type thing because it only takes a few moments. Also, I've done a men's dress shirt with this tutorial as well and it is almost appropriate for the Renn Faire, which is good cause I have no money for a costume!








I also wanted to share this with you- for all the Twilight fans out there. My friends and I have been coming up with other vampire movies vs Twilight slogans and I made my favorite into a Tee. It's a Lost Boys Reference and a take on those tourist tees. So it's the outline of Washington State and the slogan is "WASHINGTON: MORE VAMPIRES THAN SANTA CARLA". Other favorites include "Team Barnabas" (from Dark Shadows), "Buffy vs Bella", and "Cullens? No, you mean Collins" (again, Dark Shadows).

This is my favorite project I've ever done-mostly because I've never redone shoes. I love them, I've worn them every day, I'm so excited. I hope you like them, too.

I got a pair of Blowfish Miami's Humvee boots and they were too tight on the calves. I thought maybe since they were wool they would stretch out, but they didn't. So I split the back seam, inserted a panel of blue and purple plaid wool, and some ties. Now they are adjustable to go over jeans or wear with tights! Also, to be decorative, I salvaged a lace applique from an old lady top and stitched it to the sides. Now it looks embroidered! I LOVE THESE!!!!

I went to the PA Ren Faire two weekends ago with my friend and we had a BLAST. I wanted to post pics of the outfit I made, but this is the only one I have. The blouse my mom made and I made the vest from gray twill and felt circles and Tshirt strips, and the skirts were both recycled/reconned. The green top skirt was bought from  me that day. The vest is my favorite part- I did the pattern for it, I embroidered the circles on. It has these ties on the side. It's not boned- it was supposed to be for Fairy Con last year where pretty much anything goes. But I liked it so much I wanted to wear it twice.



Oh and I made the horns and did the makeup too! The only thing I didn't do was the cape!

I took this plain, green checked dress that looked like a substitute teacher dress, tucked up the skirt with a bunch of buttons, and appliqued old heart fabric I had in the scrap bin onto the front. I don't have any before pictures, but here are the afters. I love it so!

I wore a skirt version of this to the PA Renn Faire this past weekend and had someone buy it off of my body. It was totally cool- that has never happened to me before.

I really love to remake sweaters. They are my favorite thing to sew.

I'm boring. I've been really busy with school and stuff lately, but I'm really trying to update my clothes. Here are two things I made for me:



This is Maude. She is my absolute favorite sweater. Very low neck in the front, because I like to wear graphic tees and I like to show them off but still be warm.



This I made from a shirt of my boyfriend's. I made it smaller to fit me, but then I accidentally made it too small so I put pink plaid panels in the front and back.
